Leading producers of Orel and the Oryol region

Industry of the Oryol region is mainly represented by six industries: food, construction, textile, machine building, metallurgical and electrical engineering. The largest manufacturing plants in Orel and the Oryol region are Gamma, Dormash, Proton-Electrotex, the Oryol Steel Rolling Plant, Oreltekmash and others.

JSC Gamma

Perhaps this textile company is the most famous manufacturer of Orel. The joint-stock company is engaged in sewing hosiery, occupying a leading position among domestic companies in this segment.

The largest knitting factory in Russia was founded on January 1, 1934 and was one of the first manufacturers of stockings, socks, tights and other products in the USSR. For the enterprise, modern equipment was purchased, which was a curiosity for those times:

• steam irons;
• dye machines;
• centrifuges;
• overlocks;
• winding machines.

However, the outbreak of war prevented plans for further development of the factory. The buildings were partially destroyed, it took time to restore them. However, already in 1944, more than a hundred people worked at Gamma, and the annual plan was overfulfilled by 300%.

After the war, the factory became one of the leading manufacturers of Orel and the region. In the 1950s, the enterprise expanded, and its own diesel power plant was built. In the 60s, the production was the industry leader; a branch of the Ivanteevsky knitting technical school and the Rusanov technical school was opened on its basis. The best graduates stayed to work at the factory. By 1989, the modernization of production was completed, the production of scarce elastic stockings was launched.

The company was able to survive both the crisis of the 90s and the global economic crisis of 2008-2011. However, we had to sacrifice production volumes for the sake of quality and assortment. Today, over 1,000 people work here, and products under the Gamma brand are known throughout Russia.

Dormash

The company produces high-tech products - large construction equipment. The range of the Orel manufacturing plant is presented:

• B-100, B-120 and B-150 bulldozers.
• By loaders RK-27, RK-33 and RK-40.
• Motor graders of the DZ series.

In recent years, Dormash has become one of the industry leaders, entering the TOP-3 of the largest domestic manufacturers and suppliers of road construction equipment. Among his clients are enterprisesconstruction sector, oil and gas workers, road maintenance organizations. A feature of the products is reliability, quality, ease of maintenance and management, affordable price. The plant has its own design office, which allows you to quickly respond to market demands and make prompt changes according to the wishes of customers.

JSC Proton-Electrotex

This company is Orel's most advanced enterprise for the production of electronic components and power electronics:

• diodes;
• thyristors;
• resistors;
• voltage limiters;
• coolers;
• modular inverter systems;
• IGBT modules;
• measuring equipment;
• prefabricated modules;
• hardware.

The society was founded in 1996. Here, advanced equipment is installed, which allows to produce reliable and high-quality products that meet current specifications. The components are developed by specialists from the Moscow All-Russian Electrotechnical Institute in cooperation with the scientific and design department of the manufacturing plant.

Orlovsky steel-rolling plant

A large enterprise was founded in 1967 with the aim of manufacturing hardware products. Today it occupies a significant share in the Russian market in the production of steel ropes, metal mesh, metal cord. It also produces wire, welding electrodes, various fasteners. The production is equipped with Swiss andGerman equipment.

PJSC Oreltekmash

One of the oldest Orel manufacturers. The plant traces its lineage back to 1854, when workshops for the production of running metal products were opened in the provincial town: hammers, staples, cradles, horse drives. They also worked in iron casting. Before the First World War, the workshops were transformed into the Perelygin Cast Iron Plant.

During the Soviet period, Tekmash changed its specialization. Here they began to produce units for processing bast (wood) fibers. With the beginning of the Second World War, the enterprise was evacuated to the Penza region and instead of bast machines they made products for the missile forces. In the 70s, the manufacturer Orla was refocused on the production of automatic machines for processing wool.

In 2000 Oreltekmash once again changed the direction of its activity. After technical re-equipment, they began to produce within its walls:

• Mobile maintenance equipment for the military and law enforcement agencies.
• Container bodies.
• Van bodies.
• Mobile platforms (service, rear, medical).
• Control points.
• Diesel power plants.
• Transformers.

The structure of the enterprise includes a foundry, machining, forging and pressing, assembly production.
