Such a benefit is a wage condition applied by the employer. The regional coefficient is valid if the employee works in difficult climatic conditions. For many Russians living in a large country with different climatic zones, such assistance is especially relevant. The coefficient mentioned by us is primarily used in the regions of the Far North. But there are other regions in which there is also a surcharge. The main purpose of this benefit is to increase wages.

Supplement amount

Regional coefficient to the wages of those who work in manufacturing industries in the Far North, according to individualnormative acts is established for each region and districts included in its composition. Depending on the conditions of work and residence, the coefficient can be from 1.5 to 2.

According to the Labor Code, companies have the right to apply coefficients that are determined at the federal or regional level, while securing them in an employment contract, as well as various agreements. It is important to note that local authorities may set an additional district coefficient, but not higher than that established by federal law.

How is it calculated?

This additional payment is issued to the employee at the actual place of work, even if the employer is located in another region. For example, when the main office is located in the capital, and the employee works in a separate subdivision in the Far North.

The same applies to the traveling nature of the work. For example, if an employee from time to time travels to the regions of the Far North for work, then the regional coefficient is calculated in proportion to the days he spent on a business trip. At the same time, the coefficient should be calculated on the entire amount of the salary, taking into account all payments, bonuses and various remunerations.

It is also credited for compensation payments and benefits. These include the following allowances:

  • for continuous work experience or for title;
  • for long service;
  • so-called "annual" bonuses based on performance for the quarter or year;

  • for access tostate secrets in connection with work;
  • for night work, part-time work of several professions and positions.

But there is also a part of the salary for which the coefficient is not charged. Namely:

  • material assistance;
  • various types of payments that are calculated on the basis of average earnings (holiday pay, advanced training or employee training related to vocational training);
  • percentage bonuses on wages for work in the regions of the Far North and the Far East, as well as in the south of Eastern Siberia;
  • incentive payments that are issued at a time and are not officially included in the wage system.

Many are wondering if the capital of Russia is included in the list of subjects where the district coefficient is valid. In terms of climate, Moscow is not equated with the regions of the Far North, therefore such an allowance is not paid here.
