A new 10-ruble coin appeared in Russia in 2010, before it the Bank of Russia issued paper banknotes of the same denomination. Coins with a face value of 10 rubles have already become familiar to most citizens, and their circulation has almost completely replaced their paper counterpart, however, the denomination "ten" is still found, but due to natural wear and tear, there are fewer of them every year.
The history of the appearance of a 10-ruble coin in Russia
The modern Russian ruble began its history with the collapse of the USSR as the currency of a new state: the first 10-ruble coin of the Central Bank of Russia also appeared in circulation.
Coins with a face value of 10 rubles were intensively used by citizens until 1998. In the same year, the currency was denominated due to the accompanying hyperinflation: banknotes of the same denomination came to replace the depreciated metal money, and the ratio of the denominated ruble to the previous analogue was 1 to 1000. Coins of 1992 and 1993 were withdrawn from circulation, and in their place came paper 10 rubles.
After several revisions of the paper banknote, the Central Bank once again considered it necessary to return the coins to circulation. The government has been tasked with designing andto implement their mass minting: as conceived by the authorities, the 10-ruble coin of 2010 was supposed to contribute to the withdrawal of paper banknotes from circulation until 2012. The plan turned out to be somewhat unrealistic, as it was not possible to completely withdraw paper notes from the economy.
Appearance and material of the coin
10-ruble coin has a detailed image on both the front and back sides.
- On the front: in the center, with a slight shift to the left, the number "10" is carved against a background of a field of vertical stripes, the right side is decorated with an image of branches, and "rubles" is written under the number. Inside the "0", when viewed from different angles, you can see 2 inscriptions: "10" and "rub".
- Reverse side of the coin: in the center is an eagle with two heads and lowered wings - the symbol of the Bank of Russia, below the semicircular inscription "Bank of Russia", below it is a short line and the year of minting of this coin.
The coin is monometallic, that is, it is minted from one metal. The basis is steel, it is protected by a brass plating.
Anniversary 10 ruble coins of Russia
During the existence of the Russian ruble, several editions of commemorative coins were put into circulation. Some of them are made of base metals, while others are made of precious ones. The minting of commemorative coins is timed to coincide with important national historical holidays, as well as symbols of the nationalculture.
The value of anniversary copies is determined individually for each circulation. The main indicators reflecting the potential value of a coin are the material from which it is made, the size of the circulation and the year of minting - the older the coin, the higher the price.
