Today many strive to have their own business, because working for yourself has a lot of advantages. There are many ideas for entrepreneurship; recently, vermicultivation has become very popular. This is not at all surprising, since worm farming is inexpensive and has a good level of profitability. In addition, to develop such a business, it is not necessary to rent a special room, you can organize a mini-farm at home.
Fishing worms have always been in demand, they are in demand both in summer and in winter, therefore, from a financial point of view, this is an excellent choice for business.
Benefits of vermicultivation
- Ease of equipment. To breed worms, you do not need to purchase expensive equipment, you can create it yourself.
- Reproduction rate. Individuals give birth very quickly, so the business will be constantly active.
- High demand. Worms are always bought, this is due to the possibility of fishing all year round.
- Insignificant business expenses. An entrepreneur does not need large investments to start a business, as well as to maintain it.
- Wastelessnessproduction. Not only individuals go for sale, but also fertilizers produced by them in the process of life.
Which worms to use?
There are several types of worms that are suitable for breeding:
- "prospector";
- rain;
- California worm;
- dung;
- mealworms;
- Dendrobene (worm).
The last species was bred specifically for catching fish. The worms are quite large and fleshy, ideal for bait.
Features of Dendrobaena veneta
Dendroben worm is purple to olive, red or brown in color, with pale yellow furrows. The body can consist of 26-32 segments, and the tail thickens towards the end.
The worm is not afraid of negative temperatures, so it is easy to grow it in places with an unfavorable climate.
Worms breeding
Dendrobena veneta, like any other worms, is hemophrodite, that is, there are neither males nor females in the family. The most active mating time of individuals is early spring, when conditions are most favorable. They can be created at home, and in such a way that mating will be possible all year round.
After mating, the worms lay cocoons that mature for two months, after this period, full-fledged young individuals are born.
It must be remembered that cocoon laying is not possible unless all conditions are met. Also Dendroben (worm) will not increaseoffspring if there are too many individuals in a confined space.
You can determine the readiness of an animal for mating by a swollen belt on the body. Worms can mate at any size, but growth genes are an important part. For this reason, it is advisable to select individuals with a weight of 1.5 g or more. With proper care, Dendroben can reach 7 grams.
Conditions for breeding worms
In order for the business to develop in the right direction, the following conditions for keeping worms must be met:
- ensure darkness;
- provide individuals with a quality wet and breathable substrate without adding any chemical additives.
The substrate is the main element to take care of. The worms that appeared in the substrate must be in it and remain until the moment of implementation. A change in habitat can lead to the death of individuals. Therefore, it is necessary to have a sufficient amount of substrate in reserve. Of course, it is possible to change it to a new one, but for this you need to have sufficient experience.
To grow a sufficient number of individuals, it is necessary to maintain the optimum temperature in the wormhole - + 9-30 degrees. You should also monitor the level of soil moisture, it should be no more than 85%.
As the population grows, individuals should be moved to another wormhole, otherwise, as was said, reproduction will stop.
After increasing the level of compost in the substrate, it is necessary to loosen the soil no more than twice a week. Thanks tothis provides access to oxygen.
Don't assume that growing worms is one of the easiest things to do. This matter must be approached with responsibility and seriousness.
To start breeding Dendroben, you can use several options:
- You can buy cocoons and place them in a ready-made substrate. Thus, the worms will already be initially adapted to your conditions of detention.
- Buy Dendroben family 3-5 generations. However, you need to be sure that you have the Dendroben worm. The price for such families is about 3,500 rubles.
It is difficult, even almost impossible, for an inexperienced person to distinguish one type of worm from another. Therefore, it is most reasonable to buy individuals from experienced worm breeders.
How to build a wormhole?
It is best to cost a wormhole in a suburban area, but everywhere there are difficulties. Building a compost pit, in principle, is within the power of everyone.
Worms for fishing are the purest protein, and therefore moles, mice, rats, bears willingly feast on them. If such animals get to your offspring, then losses cannot be avoided, which means that you need to provide good protection.
Ground water is also a danger to worms. Therefore, when choosing a place for a compost pit, you need to make sure that there are no sources of water, otherwise the worms will die if they get into the pit.
It is advisable to place the compost pit in the shade so that the sun's rays do not heat it up.
Also worth itmake sure that the pit is protected from precipitation in the form of rain and snow.
It is necessary to understand that the more individuals are in the wormhole, the smaller the Dendroben (the worm is quite whimsical in this regard) will be in size. With an overabundance of worms in the area, they become smaller, so it is very important to move them to another compost pit.
Question variant
- Choosing the optimal location for the mother liquor.
- At the bottom of the pit we lay drainage from crushed stone with a layer of 20 cm.
- Lay a galvanized mesh with a cell of 10 mm on the bottom and close the inner sides of the pit with it.
- On the perimeter it is necessary to install reinforcement under the walls of the mother liquor from reinforcement 12 mm.
- We lay the walls with silicate bricks. The walls rise 10 cm above the ground, the pit itself is 1 meter deep.
- On the upper end of the wall we fix a mesh to protect against pests and strengthen it with a coupler 2 cm thick.
- In the middle of the hole in the wall, we install 2 fittings from the bottom and 2 under the top at a distance of 2 cm.
- Install a 3 mm partition that will divide the mother liquor in half.
- At the bottom of the pit we lay a screed 2 cm thick with a slope to the partition 3-5 cm.
- In the screed we drill 8-10 through holes of 1 cm each. To determine the places where holes need to be made, it is necessary to pour water to the bottom and see where water will accumulate, holes should be made there.
Dendrobena (worm) does not require special care, so growing individuals is not so difficult, the main thing is to create all the necessaryconditions, and then your business will soon begin to bring good money.
