This unusual mode of transport has already firmly entered the life of Russians, despite the relatively short period of existence of a special service responsible for transporting money. At the same time, it should be noted that not every resident of our country will be able to say exactly how a collection vehicle differs from a conventional vehicle. This article will clarify some points hidden from the eyes of the average person.

Briefly about the main things

When is it customary to use these specialized vehicles? The cash collection machine (photo below) is used to collect and transport cash from one structural unit to another, as well as between various enterprises and business facilities. In addition to cash in various currencies, collectors carry valuables such as:

• plastic cards;
• precious metals;
• Documents of particular importance.

An armored car (collection vehicle) is significantly different from military vehicles and VIP vehicles. A cash-in-transit vehicle is a kind of “workhorse” that must meet special requirements.

The main qualities of armored vehicles

1. Increased reliability. Armored vehicles are used almost all the time, they carry out trips to various routes: both around the city and to neighboring settlements.
2. High level of protection against attacks. Thanks to special armor, the car is able to withstand a serious armed attack from the attackers, without losing the ability to move.
3. A certain level of driver comfort. The cash-in-transit vehicle does not require VIP-equipment of the cabin, however, the attendants should be comfortable enough when driving.

A little historical digression

The 20s of the last century are considered the period of appearance of the very first armored vehicles. It was then that in Chicago (USA), in order to protect against attacks by bandits, cars began to be reinforced with metal sheets and bars.

In Soviet times, attacks on specialized cars for transporting money were rare. Therefore, booking was not given much attention. Sberbank cash-in-transit vehicles of that time were ordinary Volga cars with the inscription “Mail” printed on the windshield.

The production of armored vehicles for carrying cash began at the moment when the first commercial banks began to be created in the country. Armored vehicles of various foreign firms were massively purchased, including suchcompanies like:

• Eurocom (Germany);
• O'Gara Security International (United States, Italy, France, Mexico and Brazil);
• Armet Armored Vehicles Inc. Ltd. (Canada and United States).

In 1988, it was decided to create the Association "Rosinkas", which is considered the Russian collection association. At the same time, the first standards were developed, providing for special painting, as well as the use of special signals.

The first Russian enterprises engaged in the production and armoring of cars appeared in the early 90s. Such "armored studios" worked with models of the domestic automobile industry, as well as with cars produced on the basis of foreign-made chassis.

Currently, the domestic market for the manufacture of specialized vehicles for collection is represented by about 20 armored companies. On the basis of Russian cars, models are being created that are considered a new word in technology - mobile operating cash desks. However, the technique of foreign manufacturers (Ford Transit, Mercedes Sprinter and Volkswagen Т5) is still popular.

1. A significant part of armored vehicles in the event of an attack by intruders, despite their formidable appearance, is not designed to protect valuable cargo. To leave a dangerous place as soon as possible - this is the function of a cash-in-transit vehicle.

3. Collectors of the Savings Bank of the Russian Federation recently got the opportunity to carry and use a shortened version of the Kalashnikov assault rifle. Prior to this, only drivers of armored vehicles carrying cash were allowed to carry the machine gun.

The cash-in-transit vehicle, which has a multi-level security system, has come a long and difficult path. The functions performed by modern armored vehicles are expanding from year to year. Therefore, in the near future we should expect new developments in the field of creating such machines.
