Domodedovo Airport today is one of the main air hubs in Moscow. It serves flights to 175 destinations from 60 air carriers, of which 39 are foreign and 21 are Russian.
Domodedovo cargo terminal with a total area of 13,440 sq. m, is the largest air cargo area in our country. Today, thanks to the terminal's capacity, it is possible to handle up to six hundred tons of cargo per day, this figure is 10 times higher than that of other Russian air harbors. The airport plans to expand and increase the volume of cargo transportation.
Mode and features of work
The hub operates around the clock. Domodedovo Cargo Terminal provides a full range of services, including work with any category of cargo, even dangerous. Here, customs clearance of goods is carried out, services for electronic declaration are provided, delivery is carried out to any place in Moscow and the Moscow region. In addition, from here, cargo is sent to other airports if theypass through Domodedovo in transit.
How the terminal works inside
For the transfer of cargo, a contract for transportation is concluded, all documents are drawn up. Then the dimensions and weight of the cargo are measured using a special automated system and it is sent for storage to one of the racks, the height of which reaches 12 meters. The terminal is equipped with a video surveillance system.
The cargo complex has specialized areas for the storage of explosives, valuable and perishable goods, for which special conditions and equipment are used.
There is a separate cargo storage area with a certain temperature regime. It has four rooms with temperatures ranging from +2 to -20 °C. A large freezer is outside the gate.
The terminal also has a dedicated area for the storage of radioactive cargo, which requires a separate permit.
Movement in the terminal is allowed only on specially designated pedestrian lanes.
Cargo enters the planes on pallets or in containers, while the picking area is located separately for ease of transportation.

High level of service quality is ensured by the presence of a large number of services provided by the Domodedovo cargo terminal. Driving directions are shown below.
You can get to the terminal by Aeroexpress from Belorusskaya metro station, by train from Paveletsky railway station, and by bus number 30 from Domodedovo railway station.
Among the services you can get the following (they also apply to special cargoes):
- cargo storage;
- ground handling;
- mail and unaccompanied baggage handling;
- acceptance and delivery of goods in an accelerated mode;
- packaging and siding.
The use of baggage carts is not allowed on the territory of the Domodedovo cargo terminal.
Next to the terminal there are representative offices of forwarding and brokerage companies, firms engaged in cargo transportation. This is convenient for customers: everything is nearby.
The Domodedovo cargo terminal is equipped with modern technology - loaders and pallet trucks, pallet carts, as well as thermal carts, loaders and tractors, various weighing equipment.
Special cargoes handled by the terminal include the following items:
- dangerous goods;
- valuable, theft-prone cargo;
- perishable;
- pharmaceutical;
- animals;
- oversized cargo.
