Many residents of private houses are engaged in breeding poultry at home. This is quite logical and understandable - there are both birds and domestic eggs. But most often, simple laying hens do not differ in particular fleshiness. And agricultural entrepreneurs keep two types of chickens - laying hens and broilers. The first "go" for eggs, the second - for meat. Luckily, cochin chickens from Vietnam are now gaining popularity. Why fortunately? There are a number of reasons.

Why are they?

The thing is that Cochinchin chickens have unique properties compared to their counterparts. First, they are ideal for breeding for meat. The carcass weight of an adult chicken is on average about 4.5 kg of pure meat. Secondly, cochin hens lay very well, which means they are perfect for those entrepreneurs who are aimed at high egg production in birds. Moreover, this breed has a highly developed instinct for incubating eggs.

Initially, Cochinchin chickens wereexclusively decorative breed. That is, they were not intended for agricultural breeding. At the moment, this trend is beginning to change. More and more private entrepreneurs with a small subsidiary plot give their preference to this particular breed.

Appearance

The predominantly decorative breed has become due to its appearance. Cochin-hens are stocky, with a broad chest, thick plumage, and powerful underfur. The wings are rather high set, short legs are covered with down. However, this does not allow keeping them in the cold. Moreover, the aviary where the bird is kept must be clean and dry. Excessive humidity provides fertile ground for the appearance of parasites that cause inconvenience and pain to birds. Cochinchin chickens, photos of which are presented here, received a variety of colors - they can be birds with black plumage or red, with white or yellowish. At the same time, the black plumage should be with a greenish tint - as a decorative breed, this color is most valuable. In chickens, a red color with a noble yellow or brown tint is acceptable. All other colors of the pen are considered "non-standard". On the other hand, if the breed is bred for meat, color does not matter at all, it does not affect the weight of individuals.

Containment conditions

Cochin-hens are calm and sedate. They do not fly and do not try due to their large weight, so the fence can be a meter high. If the enclosure is large, then individuals of this breedactive, walk a lot, eat well. Females and males are best kept separate from each other so that the plumage does not deteriorate during their mating. If the purpose of breeding is not the aesthetic beauty of the breed, then cohabitation of heterosexual individuals in the same enclosure is allowed. Feed is better to choose soft, enriched with vitamins and minerals. From greens, leaves of horseradish, cabbage, radish and turnips are welcome. Chicks at four months of age require a special diet rich in protein. It helps the rapid development of birds. In addition, the future plumage also depends on the amount of protein in the diet. After four months, the squirrels are cut back, allowing the bird to develop naturally and grow normally.
