For several years now, the Forbes list (an authoritative and well-known economic publication in the world) of the richest people has been headed by not well-known Bill Gates. Today the name of this man is known all over the world. This is Mexican Carlos Slim. In 2010, the tycoon made a splash when he became the first richest person to be ranked as the world's first non-U. The Mexican of Arab origin began his career at the age of twelve. He invested his small savings in Banco Nacional de Mexico. Carlos owes his entrepreneurial spirit to his father. At seventeen, the future richest man had a week's earnings,equal to 200 pesos, moonlighting at his father's enterprise. After graduation, Carlos starts working as a trader, gradually forming his own company, which later expanded greatly due to profitable investments in other enterprises.

Since 1965, Slim's company has included various other investment firms, construction and mining companies, etc. Already in 1966, his fortune was estimated at $40 million. From 1972 to 1976, he expanded his business by buying construction equipment manufacturing and rental companies, mining, and shares in the printing, food, restaurant, and tobacco businesses.

In 1982, due to a sharp drop in oil prices, the Mexican economy was hit hard. However, even here the richest man managed to find a way out. He buys shares of enterprises at bargain prices, thus becoming their full or partial owner. As a result, Carlos Slim occupies almost all business sectors and various economic niches, gradually entering the global market.

At the moment, Slim owns one of the largest holdings - GrupoCarso, which controls a number of companies (mostly in the field of communications) both in Mexico and in other countries.

At the end of the pastCarlos Slim's net worth was $75.5 billion, equal to 8% of Mexico's annual GDP.

The richest man in the world does not forget about his native country. His personal foundation allocates huge sums to finance cultural and educational projects, as well as the development of he alth care in Mexico. The Carlos Slim Foundation fully sponsored the construction of the Zumaya Museum, which contains treasures of world history, works by da Vinci, Renoir, Picasso and other great artists.
