Rare currency signs are of great interest not only to numismatists and collectors, but also to ordinary connoisseurs of things of the past, especially those that had a certain value. Coins and banknotes of the 18th-19th centuries are especially popular. But recently it has become fashionable to collect Soviet money. Rare USSR money is money that was issued in the Soviet Union from the 20s to the 70s.
The appearance of rare money
In the mid-20s, the Soviet state developed a plan for the introduction of all-Union money: both coins and banknotes. Specialists offered many options for the design of Soviet money, pursuing the goal of displaying the exclusivity and greatness of the USSR on the banknotes.
As a result of this fruitful work, huge circulations of bills and coins came out, which were immediately launched around. Among the numerous issues of the currency, there were also trial copies. It is they who are now of particular value.
Soviet paper money, as a rule, is not valuable and rare. Therefore, interest in them is not large enough compared to coins.
Trial money of the USSR
Trial Soviet banknotes were issued as an addition to the officially approved currency. Usually, information about such releases was not subject to publicity. But, despite the secrecy, many such copies have survived to this day. Paper Soviet rubles have no special value. The coins are quite popular with collectors as far fewer were minted.
A striking example is the famous "half-kopeck", which came into circulation in 1925, as well as the bronze three-kopeck coin of 1924. They were abandoned almost immediately due to low profitability. A course was taken to make coins from non-precious alloys. In the decades that followed, a quarter of 1955 became very rare.
1925 Gold Gold Piece
If it is possible to single out the most popular and rare coin from the many examples of rare money, then it certainly is the Soviet chervonets, made of pure gold in 1925. In our time, only 5 such coins are known. Two of them can be seen at the State Museum of Art, the rest are in the collections of Goznak.
For ordinary and even the richest collectors and numismatists, the gold Soviet chervonets, unfortunately, is not available. There is information about an exact copper copy of the chervonets. One such copy was sold in 2008 at auction for 5 million rubles to a private collection. A year later, another analogue of the Soviet chervonets was presented at the auction, but the sale did not materialize for a number of reasons. Surprisingly, but the money of the USSR is now in some demand.
Fifty kopecks 1924 pattern
Very remarkable and rareis a Soviet coin with a face value of 50 kopecks, which entered circulation in 1924. The release batch was large enough, so most of the copies have survived to this day. But this fact does not bother collectors. The fact is that the coins were minted differently, each circulation had slight differences from the previous one. There are about twenty variants of such a coin.
That's why the price for a copy of fifty kopecks in 1924 varies from 500 rubles to tens of thousands of dollars. The rarest and most valuable is the coin with the edge inscription and the applied symbols Ѳ. R.
In addition to the coins described above, there are other, no less valuable money of the USSR, in particular, those that were minted before the Great Patriotic War. Especially rare are silver coins of any denomination that were issued before 1931. During this period there was a transition from precious metals to nickel alloys. And all silver items have been withdrawn from circulation, therefore they are of great value to numismatists.
