Tomatoes are an ambiguous culture. Someone manages to grow large crops from year to year, while someone cannot find an approach to them. But to meet a person who would not like tomatoes is very difficult. The principles of growing this wonderful crop in the greenhouse and in the open field are similar, but there are differences.
Growing tomatoes in a greenhouse, you should pay attention to several important aspects: reasonable placement of seedlings, temperature conditions, watering, plant formation, top dressing, possible overheating of the greenhouse, disease and pest control.
Planting tomatoes in a greenhouse should be carried out taking into account the distances between plants recommended for a particular variety or hybrid. You can not plant seedlings closely, in the future it can lead to diseases and the reproduction of pests.
For good development of tomatoes, the temperature in the greenhouse must be maintained at 20-25 during the day 0С, and at night 12-14 0С. Sudden changes in temperature during the day are not particularly desirable. If this happens during the budding period, then the leaves of the tomatoes may turn yellow, and the yellowness willwith a bluish tint. If the temperature in the greenhouse drops below +10 0С, then the pollen will not ripen, if it rises above +35 0С, then the pollen will become sterile.
Tomatoes need regular watering. How to water tomatoes in a greenhouse is definitely difficult to say. As soon as the top layer of soil dries well, you need to water it, and always with warm water, under the root. These plants prefer moist soil, and the air in the greenhouse should be dry.
Tomatoes in a greenhouse are preferably grown indeterminate, with a mandatory garter. It is better to form them in one stem. Stepchildren must be removed, not allowing them to grow more than 5 cm. In this case, the tomatoes will not experience much stress. It is optimal to grow 10 fruit brushes on the stem, and then remove the apical bud. If low-growing varieties without trellises are grown in the greenhouse, then you need to leave 3-4 flower brushes and remove all stepsons.
Tomatoes in the greenhouse respond well to top dressing. Without them, a good harvest cannot be grown. During the season, it is necessary to carry out at least 3-4 subcorks with organomineral fertilizers. Tomatoes are better at absorbing additional nutrition in liquid form. Foliar top dressing is also desirable, for example, spraying with boron-containing preparations will be useful for fruit set.
Overheating of the greenhouse should not be allowed. To prevent it (to prevent the temperature from rising above +30 0С), you can spray the roof with chalk mortar andincrease ventilation by opening windows and doors. It is especially important to ventilate well during the flowering period, pollination will improve.
Diseases and pests need to be able to identify and know the methods by which you can get rid of them. It is much easier to prevent their occurrence than to deal with its consequences. To avoid hollowness and spotty fruit ripening, you need a reasonable application of potash fertilizers. Cracking of fruits can be avoided by normalized watering, which is preferably carried out in the morning. The leaves twist and curl when the stepchildren are not removed in time and the shape is wrong. In order to avoid the physiological form of blossom end rot, proper watering (infrequent, but deep) is needed. To avoid fruit blight, it is necessary to eliminate the increased humidity in the greenhouse, i.e. air it regularly.
It is equally important to remove the lower aging leaves from greenhouse tomatoes, especially yellowing ones, they are among the first to be affected by diseases.
If pests appear, then you need to get rid of them. You can use folk remedies, or you can use chemicals - it depends on the number and stage of development of pests.
It is difficult to foresee everything, but by following the above recommendations, you can count on an excellent harvest.
