What is SNILS and why is it needed

Since the beginning of the 2000s, or rather since 2002, a system of compulsory pension insurance has been adopted in Russia. Now every employer is forced to pay special insurance premiums for employees. They will become the basis of the insurance part of a person's pension in the future. In order for an employee to accumulate an insurance pension, he must register in the current OPS system. At this moment, he is assigned a special number - SNILS. The identifier is assigned once and does not change until the end of life.

The document looks like a small light green card made of plastic. It contains all the necessary information:

• himselfidentifier (individual insurance number);
• last name, first name and patronymic of the owner;
• gender;
• place and date of birth;
• information about when the person was registered in the system.

SNILS is needed not only for the formation of pension savings. With its help, it is much easier to receive benefits, various compensations and social benefits. Without this document, it is impossible to obtain a birth certificate or issue maternity capital. To receive public services on the Single Portal, you will also need this number. There is nothing difficult in obtaining a document. If you are officially employed, you do not need to do anything at all. In this case, it is the responsibility of the employer to register you in the OPS system.

• first name, patronymic, last name;

• day, month and year of birth;
• your registration address and place of residence (if they do not match);
• passport details;
• contact phone number.

And how else can you get SNILS? In Moscow and many other cities of Russia there are special multifunctional centers that act as intermediaries in various issues. If an MFC is located near your house, which has an agreement on cooperation with the Pension Fund, you can apply there for registration of SNILS. True, only citizens of Russia can take advantage of this advantage. Foreigners and those without citizenship are not eligible.

To apply for SNILS at the MFC, it will also be enough to fill out a questionnaire form and attach an identity document. Employees of the center will check the information and transfer the papers to the Pension Fund. This is due to the fact that information about the personal accounts of insured persons is strictly confidential. What to do in case of loss

Another important question of interest to citizens: how to get a lost SNILS and is it worth changing the document if any of your personal data has changed?

Here everything is also extremely simple. In case of loss of the document, you should visit the personnel department or the accounting department of your enterprise and write a corresponding application. Further, everything will happen without your participation. The employer will independently notify the Pension Fund about the problem, and you will be given a duplicate of SNILS.

You can apply to the Pension Fund of the Russian Federation on your own. Just write an application and pick up the document after 30 days.

If you have changed any of the data entered into SNILS, or an error is found, the "plastic" will have to be changed. The procedure is similar to obtaining a new document and also takes no more than a month.

Please note that only your personal data will change in the new document, but the certificate number will remain unchanged. Despite the fact that the ILS ceases to be valid at the time of the death of the owner, the insurance number is still not deleted from the database.
