If you liked Brahma chicken, then you can safely start breeding it. It is not difficult to grow it: it is not too whimsical to conditions, temperature, light and walking places. Of course, in cases where egg production is important to you, these parameters will be needed, but if you want to purchase it to decorate the yard, then you will only need to pay attention to nutrition.

Brahma can be fed both dry, wet and mixed foods. In large farms, preference is given to the first type of food. In this case, full-fledged compound feeds are used, which do not deteriorate for a long time. But at home it is better to use wet food - this will not only save money, but also provide the bird with all the necessary trace elements and vitamins.

Brahma chickens will be happy to eat compound feed, various ground grains, dry protein feed, greens. All this can be mixed with whey, meat or fish broth, other kitchen leftovers. By the way, it is not so necessary to purchase ready-made dry food for poultry, it is better to purchase a crusher andindependently select the proportions of grains, fish and meat and bone meal, adding various food waste to this mixture: cereals, soups, potatoes, greens.

Only a combination of good nutrition, optimal temperature and light will make it possible for a Brahma chicken to lay for quite a long time and gain weight at the same time. By the way, if you do not want to breed poultry, then you can not start a rooster, because chickens will lay eggs without it. But the cry of a rooster has a calming effect on hens, improves their condition. And this, in turn, affects both performance and the rate of weight gain.

In order for a Brahma chicken to lay in the winter, it needs to provide at least 13-15 0C indoors. Do not forget also about the need to create a long daylight hours (it should be about 14 hours) and the absence of drafts. If you have old enough Brahma chickens, caring for them is easy.

They easily tolerate even low temperatures. But in the first year it will be difficult with a bird, because for young animals it should be at least 10 ⁰С, otherwise not all representatives can survive. It is worth noting that the chickens must hatch no later than June, otherwise they may not survive the winter. Of course, if you do not live in central Russia, but in the southern regions, where the temperature rarely drops below 0 ^{0C, then young birds are not afraid of cold.}

If you have not been breeding young chickens, but want to purchase already grown individuals, then youyou need to know that the best age for selecting Brahma chickens is at least 130 days old. At this time, it is already possible to evaluate the appearance of the bird and understand what potential each of the individuals will have. Thus, a he althy Brahma hen, from which good egg production can be expected, has a bright red comb, earrings and yellow legs. Clean and shiny feathers should fit snugly to the body. It should be active, move quickly and eat with gusto. Of course, only a specialist can correctly evaluate a bird, but if something confuses you in the appearance or behavior of a particular individual, then it is better not to purchase it.
