An airline is judged by several factors, in particular by how large its fleet is. Aeroflot today does not take the first place in the international rating, but for many decades it has firmly held the lead in terms of the number of aircraft.

The Dobrolet Society, founded in 1923, was engaged in air transportation, operating German-made Fokker airplanes. Meanwhile, the aviation industry of the young Soviet Republic was developing rapidly, despite numerous difficulties and a shortage of personnel.

In just a decade and a half, since 1932, the Soviet air fleet has become the largest air carrier in the world. This is not surprising, under socialism there was no competition, the monopoly in the field of air transportation, as in other areas of economic activity, was the state, which owned the aircraft fleet. Aeroflot was distinguished by such technical diversity that no other could affordairline.

Since 1932, domestic aircraft have been used to transport passengers within the USSR. In the same year, a new official name for the Soviet airline was established.

Aeroflot's aircraft fleet in the post-war decade was mainly made up of Li-2 liners, which began to be mass-produced under an American license in 1939.

Each generation of aviation equipment in the Soviet Union was built in large, by world standards, circulation. The "workhorse" that carried the lion's share of passengers on medium highways was the Il-14, which then replaced the An-24. Jet liners Tu-104, Tu-134 and Tu-154, replacing Ily-18, cruised between large cities. All these aircraft were produced not only for the Soviet airline. The civil aviation of the GDR ("Interflug"), Poland ("Lot"), Hungary ("Malev"), Cuba ("Aero Caribbean") and many other countries, and not only socialist ones, was equipped with well-proven equipment produced in the USSR and constituted a huge fleet of aircraft. Aeroflot was, however, the main customer of our aviation industry.

In addition to heavenly workaholics, unique record-breaking aircraft plowed the sky on international airlines. For a long time, intercontinental communications were provided by the Tu-114 and Il-62, which were originally created to transport government delegations. Tu-144 became one of two mass-produced passenger supersonic aircraft. Freight transport was provided by super-heavy transport workers, created for military needs, but also useful in peaceful affairs (An-22, An-124, An-225, Il-76, VM-T). On the sides of the fuselage, they carried with restrained dignity the same winged hammer and sickle emblem and the inscription Aeroflot. The aircraft fleet was as unique as the machines that made it up.

Today, Russian Airlines, which has retained its former abbreviated name, operates a variety of equipment, some of which are purchased abroad, including Boeings and Airbuses. However, the Il-96 is rightfully considered the flagship of the domestic air fleet. Aeroflot, which appreciates passenger reviews today as highly as never before in the Soviet past, can be proud of this car. No wonder it was she who became the presidential board.
