EPS-98 grease: application, reasons for use, properties

EPS-98 grease is manufactured in accordance with TU-0254-002-47926093-2001. This variant of the manufacture of the substance became the prototype for the production of many other lubricants. The use of such a product will reduce resistance by increasing the effective contact surface.

General Description

EPS-98 grease is able to lower the operating temperature of the contact due to the fact that the resistance decreases. The result of the use and exposure of such a substance was that the service life of the treated contact is increased. If we talk about the direct purpose of the product - this is the reduction and stabilization of electrical resistance. The contact agent is able to provide:

• Reducing the resistance of the contact type, as well as its stabilization at a low level. This applies to the entire life of the contacts as long as the temperature does not rise above 150 degrees Celsius. Only a brief jump up to 250 degrees Celsius is allowed.
• EPS-98 grease is designed to increase the resistance of contacts against corrosion.
• Applying such a substancecan reduce possible losses of electrical energy.
• Increased protection for when the contact is subjected to overcurrent or overheating for a long time.

If you use electrically conductive grease EPS-98 at an energy-intensive enterprise, you can save up to 10,000 kWh of electrical energy. This effect is achieved by applying 1 kg of lubricant.

Main areas and reasons for application

Efficiency of operation is confirmed by many tests that were carried out at enterprises during 2000-2013.

The main applications of such a substance were:

• contact connections available at stations and substations, made using bolted and collapsible connections;
• connection points of wire cores, as well as cables with different connectors and lugs using mechanical and crimped fastening methods.

EPS-98 grease can be used on any contact joints with surfaces such as copper-copper, aluminum-aluminum, copper-aluminum, copper-iron.

Any contact connection is characterized by the presence of surface roughness. The greater the current that flows through such a connection, the stronger the effect of such a small, at first glance, defect. Because of this, the temperature will rise, which can lead to overheating or melting of the contacts in this zone, or vice versa, their surfacing on top of each other. All thisincreases the resistance in that area. All this negatively affects not only the service life, but also leads to losses of electrical energy that flows through them. The use of conductive grease EPS-98 allows you to exploit the entire contact surface, including roughness, which almost eliminates the possibility of overheating, and hence further problems.

Properties

By itself, this grease is a homogeneous mass of a fairly thick consistency, which has a brown color. This substance consists of such components as lithium stearate and fine powder, made on the basis of conductive materials.
