The film itself tells about the hard life of a black boy who grew up in a disadvantaged area of Miami. He is betrayed by friends, problems in the family, but the most difficult test is acceptance of himself.

The statuette was taken by the author of a magnificent musical about true love in the atmosphere of old Hollywood - Damien Chazelle. His film "La La Land" became a real sensation this year.
The plot of the film describes the romance between a fanatical jazz musician and a frivolous aspiring actress who repeatedly goes to unsuccessful interviews in the hope of getting a role and becoming famous.
A film was made in the musical genre that wasa rather risky step, because the era of musicals has long passed, and the director has assumed great responsibility for the success of this film. Nevertheless, all expectations were justified, the tape turned out to be so successful that there was hardly at least one spectator who left the cinema without a feeling of lightness, fun and inspiration. Box office receipts confirm this once again: with a budget of $30 million, the film grossed over $350 million.
In addition to this award, the film received the following Oscar nominations: the best soundtrack, which, of course, could not be otherwise, because it is a musical, the best song for the main theme of the film, which is called City of Stars, and the best work production designer. Also, the tape was awarded a statuette for camera work, and the main actress - Emma Stone - received an award in the nomination "Best Actress".
Best Animated Film
From full-length cartoons this year, not so many pictures were remembered, however, there was one really noticeable and worthy of attention. This is, of course, the film "Zootopia", which, without feeling serious competition, took the statuette in the nomination "Best Animated Film".
To be fair, the other Oscar-nominated films were pretty good too. Such tapes as: “Red Turtle”, “Life of a Zucchini”, “Kubo. The Legend of the Samurai" and "Moana".
Best Original Screenplay
