The fact is that SNILS is the "key" to many state and municipal services. The number written on the card is the personal identifier of the citizen. It consists of eleven digits and is unique. If you need to register at your place of residence, apply for a foreign passport or replace your driver's license, then it is not necessary to spend time in long lines. It is enough to fill in the necessary forms on the State Services portal, and then come to the right organization at the appointed time. The authorities plan to soon create a universal electronic card for citizens, which will replace such documents as TIN, medical policy, pension certificate. All benefits will be provided on it and benefits will be transferred to it. And the number of the universal citizen card will be SNILS.
How to find out the SNILS number if there is no green plastic card at hand? To do this, you need to go to the same State Services portal and enter your passport data, after which the system will report the number of the insurance certificate, which is SNILS.
Thus, it becomes obvious that SNILS is a document that you must have on hand. The scope of its application has long gone beyond the pension sphere. Employed citizens who do not yet have an insurance certificate can apply for it through the personnel department of their organization. Schoolchildren fill out the necessary questionnaires in an educational institution, younger children in kindergarten. All other categories of the populationyou need to fill out an application for issuing a document at the branch of the Pension Fund by registration. An insurance certificate is issued once and for life, the reason for replacing SNILS is a change of surname. In case of loss of the certificate, you must also contact the branch of the Pension Fund of the Russian Federation and issue a new card. SNILS is produced and changed within a month.
