To drive a vehicle with a heavy trailer, the driver must have a BE category.
To drive trucks, you must have an open category C. These vehicles include trucks weighing over 3.5 tons, including those withsmall trailer. To drive a truck with a heavy trailer, you must have an additional CE category. Also in category C, subcategories C1 and C1E are distinguished. The opening of subcategory C1 allows you to drive trucks in the weight range of 3.5-7.5 tons. Subcategory C1E includes trucks with a heavy trailer, the mass of which exceeds 750 kg, provided that the total mass of the entire composition does not exceed twelve tons.
Category D in the driver's license indicates that the driver can carry out passenger transportation, including transport with a light trailer. Such means include buses and fixed-route taxis, the number of passenger seats of which does not exceed eight people. The ability to drive a bus and minibus with a trailer weighing more than 750 kg, gives category DE. There is a subcategory D1, which allows you to drive vehicles with 9 to 16 passenger seats, including with a small trailer. To drive a D1 vehicle with a heavy trailer, you must open the D1E category.
Category E is currently excluded from driver's licenses. It was replaced by the categories described above with the prefix E, such as BE, DE or CE. Category E driver can drive vehicles with heavy trailers (more than 750 kg). According to the new rules, he needs to exchange his ID for a new one. There are two options for replacing the certificate. If a category E driver opened it before 2001-01-01, then the new license will contain all previously opened categories with the prefixE. In the case of obtaining category E after this date, only those categories for which the exams were passed will go into the certificate. The new rules have created categories for trolleybus and tram drivers.
