The name of Leonid Arnoldovich Fedun has long been associated with FC Spartak. For more than 13 years this man has been the owner of the club. He did a lot for the development of Spartak, which made him especially widely known. However, in addition to football activities, he has been vice president of the Lukoil oil company for more than 20 years.

About military career

Leonid Arnoldovich Fedun was born on April 5, 1956 in Kyiv. He spent his childhood in Kazakhstan, where his father, a military surgeon and an officer, was sent. The boy was inspired by the atmosphere of Baikonur and, as it is easy to assume, decided to start a military career.

Training

From 1972 to 1977, Fedun studied at the military-political faculty of the Rostov Higher Military Command School of Strategic Missile Forces. Then he entered the postgraduate course of the F. E. Dzerzhinsky Military Academy, after which he defended his work on the topic “Public opinion of soldiers as a factor in strengthening the morale of the army of the nationwide state”, becoming a candidate of philosophical sciences. After defending his PhD, he taught political science for 8 years. For thattime Leonid Arnoldovich received the rank of colonel.

Meet the oil company

In addition to teaching at the institute, Leonid Arnoldovich lectured at the All-Union Society "Knowledge". In 1987, he was sent on a business trip to the oil settlement of Kogalym. At one of the lectures, the intelligence and train of thought of a young teacher interested representatives of the oil company Kogalymneftegaz. Leonid Fedun was invited to a meeting after the lecture, and in the course of further conversation, his passion for the oil industry, in which he was well versed, was revealed. Some time after the conversation, Leonid Arnoldovich received a job offer from the general director of the company. Fedun did not think about it for a long time and, of course, agreed.

About oil

In the oil company, Leonid Arnoldovich quickly joined the work and the new team. Thanks to his intelligence and analytical skills, he was noted by the leadership, and when in 1990 the general director of Kogalymneftegaz was appointed Deputy Minister of the Oil and Gas Industry of the USSR and moved the business to Moscow, Leonid Arnoldovich went with him.

Lukoil

A year later in Moscow, in 1991, the foundation of the Lukoil concern was laid. Leonid Fedun took an active part in this and achieved success. On March 13, 1994, he was offered the position of Vice President of PJSC LUKOIL.

In his new capacity, he focused on the direction of the company's strategic development. Many initiatives of L. Fedun were implemented in the practice of Russian business for the first time.

OhFC Spartak

It is impossible not to tell about the contribution of Leonid Arnoldovich Fedun to the development of FC Spartak, beloved by many. He purchased Spartak from the previous owner, Andrei Chervichenko, in 2004 for $70 million. For over 13 years he has been the club's owner and sponsor. Currently, Leonid Arnoldovich has remained the main investor of Spartak and is just as worried about the team as before, regularly attending matches.

Fedun's policy

The development of football clubs largely depends on financial support. Over the entire period of ownership of FC Spartak, Fedun completed several significant projects. He selected players for the team according to the transfer policy, trying to find the optimal composition. He did not forget about the future either - he invested in the development of children's football, our future hope. He took care of the comfort of the team, ensuring the construction of the Otkritie-Arena home stadium. Coast of Tradition - created the Spartak Museum, Hall of Fame.

Results

What happened as a result? With the support of Leonid Fedun, the home stadium of FC Spartak, Otkritie-Arena, was opened, on the territory of which a museum functions. A wonderful team was selected, which is currently coached by Massimo Carrera. The Spartak Academy was opened in Sokolniki, where young football players are trained. And the result is obvious - in the 16/17 season of the Premier League at the beginning of November 2016, Spartak is already in first place, ahead of Zenit by three points.
