September 1980 was marked by the launch of a giant new-style submarine, the height of which reached a nine-story building, and the area was equal to two football fields. This was a kind of response of the Soviet Union to the development and construction of the NATO submarine "Ohio", capable of delivering strikes from anywhere in the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans at once against several dozen targets located on the territory of the USSR. For a pre-emptive strike, the General Staff of the Union needed a mobile
submarine for combat from the territory of the Arctic Ocean. Tracking such a tool under the ice was not possible even for space satellites.
In all the deep waters of the globe, submarine wars were fought. The only exception was the Arctic Ocean, which, with its unpredictable ice, made it difficult to turn around in full force. In the assault on the North Pole, we won. It was for waters with such a temperature that the Shark submarine was created, the photo of which is presented on this page. In warmerthe waters of the submarine does not feel very comfortable, its engine and mechanisms are exposed to significant overheating.
Construction
According to the strategic calculation of the USSR General Staff, several submarines were to carry their constant duty under the ice, each of which had 20 intercontinental ballistic missiles in its arsenal. At the same time, each missile had ten multiple warheads aimed at the cities of a potential enemy. The submarine "Shark" did not have the ability to make combat strikes from under the ice. For this, a built-in strong felling was provided. She pushed through the ice or blew them up with torpedoes. The technical order for the construction of the submarine was complex. The Akula submarine was supposed to have 20 launch silos for nuclear missiles with the possibility of launching all of them at the same time. The strategy of nuclear wars of that time consisted in an instant strike, while there might not be a second chance. It was such a military weapon that the Shark demanded. The submarine ended up being simply huge - 55% of its 50,000-ton displacement was assigned to the contents of the ballast tanks, which is why it was nicknamed the water carrier. Its length was 172 meters and a width of about 23 meters, it had a hull draft of up to 11 meters. Not so long ago, the Science and Life magazine published an interview with one of the officers, who described the interior in detail. It turns out that the Akula submarine had very good living conditions. The crew was accommodated in 2-, 4-, 6-bed cabins lined with plasticunder
natural wood. Each room had a desk, bookshelves, wardrobes, a washbasin and a TV. To keep the officers in good physical shape, there was a gym equipped with a variety of exercise equipment.
At the moment, only three of the six built submarines remain. By agreement between Gorbachev and the Americans, special equipment for controlling the BR was torn from the submarines. From the former power of Russia there are fragments that it is time to collect and glue. And the most significant among them is the Shark submarine, sometimes also called the Typhoon.

Coins of the Soviet Union and modern Russia: what metal are coins made of, their features and varieties
The production of money on the territory of our country at all times was associated with a number of difficulties: the economy either developed or collapsed sharply, dragging faith in the Russian currency to the bottom, giving rise to massive disbelief in it and inflation. Now we have clear state standards for production and minting, all reforms are taking place gradually and accurately, but during the times of revolutions, civil and world wars, the question of what metal coins are made of in our country faded into the background
Nuclear power plants. Nuclear power plants of Ukraine. Nuclear power plants in Russia
Modern energy needs of mankind are growing at a gigantic pace. Its consumption for lighting cities, for industrial and other needs of the national economy is increasing. Accordingly, more and more soot from burning coal and fuel oil is emitted into the atmosphere, and the greenhouse effect increases. In addition, there has been more and more talk in recent years about the introduction of electric vehicles, which will also contribute to the increase in electricity consumption
What is reactive power? Reactive power compensation. Reactive power calculation
In real production conditions, reactive power of an inductive nature prevails. The enterprises install not one electric meter, but two, one of which is active. And for the overexpenditure of energy “chased” in vain through power lines, the relevant authorities are mercilessly fined
Submarine "Dolphin": project creation, construction, purpose, assignments, design and history of the submarine
The first combat submarine "Dolphin" served as a prototype for the further development of domestic ships of this class until 1917. The building was experimental in nature and had no great combat value, but was the beginning of the development of domestic submarine shipbuilding
Submarine graveyard in Russia. Submarine disposal
Submarine cemeteries in Russia are located in the Kara Sea, on the Kola Peninsula, in the Murmansk region, near Vladivostok. Dismantling submarines is a complex and dangerous process. This can be found in the article
