For an employee, the level of earnings and the possibility of a good rest, thanks to which it would be possible to restore strength, also depend on the length of his working day. may meet the norm of the working day. Often there are cases when accidents or any failures in the production process cause a loss of time. Moreover, there may be some urgent orders that promise considerable benefits. In order to cope with them or compensate for unforeseen disruptions in the production process, the employer can and has the right to increase the working hours. In this case, special forms of organizing activities are needed.

Under certain conditions, the legislation of most countries allows employers to increase working hours. Our state is no exception. HisThe Labor Code says that an employer can involve in work outside the normal working day for two reasons: either for overtime work, or if the employee has an irregular working day. In most cases, the application of such measures is a consequence of violations of the production process.

Overtime pay is the money workers receive for "extra" working hours. It has its own characteristics. The total amount of overtime worked can only be accurately known at the end of the accounting period, at which time overtime is paid. This time is recorded in special documentation.

Payment of overtime occurs in this way: the first two "extra" hours are paid in one and a half times, and all the rest - in double. It is usually not included in the base amount for calculating premiums, since most often it makes no sense to include it there. At the request of the employee, overtime pay can be replaced by an increase in rest time. For example, if he worked on a day off, then he can choose some other day for rest. In this case, overtime pay is single. These provisions come from Art. 152 of the Labor Code of the Russian Federation. On a weekend or holiday, workers are paid at least double the wages, and workers who receive an official salary receive at least a single rate - hourly or daily, depending on the time of work. These norms are established by Article 153 of the Labor Code.

How much overtime will be paidhours, may be established by a collective or individual labor contract (or some other regulatory document), drawn up taking into account the opinion of the representative body of workers.
