Bytoshevsky glass factory "Quartzite" is one of the oldest specialized enterprises in the Bryansk region. According to legend, the village of Bytoshevo was founded by an oprichnik of Ivan the Terrible, by the name of Bytosh. In 1912, a new glass factory was launched here, producing about 20,000 cases of several types of window glass per year.
In the 30s and 40s, Quartzite occupied 5-7% of the glass market in the Soviet Union. After the war, production underwent a radical restructuring. Old technologies have been replaced by more economical and productive ones. As a result, the cooking area of the bath furnace doubled at the enterprise. Machines have been re-equipped to draw a sheet of glass 1.8 meters wide (instead of 1.6 meters), and one machine a record-breaking two meters.
In recent years, the stretching machines have been upgraded to a sheet width of 2.5 meters, which allows the production of a wide range of sheet glass with a thickness of 2 to 6 mm. The total productivity of the equipment reached 6.5 million m2 products. Unfortunately, today the company is experiencing financial difficulties.
JSC Medsteklo (Klin)
Glass companyin the Moscow province was formed in 1892 by the merchant Titov. Initially, it was a small production, consisting of several wooden rooms. In troubled revolutionary times, the plant burned down, but was rebuilt in 1925.
During the Second World War, glass bottles for Molotov cocktails (incendiary mixtures), syringes, vials, and medical containers were produced here. In peacetime, the plant was reconstructed and reoriented to the production of medical glass for various purposes. Today the factory specializes in the manufacture of:
- cylinders for reusable syringes;
- test tubes (medicinal and perfume);
- columns for hemosorption;
- tubes (glass fiber);
- vials.
Zerist Factory
Moscow glass plant "Zerist" is a modern enterprise producing mirrors, glass, partitions, glass structures of any complexity. Thanks to the use of sandblasting machines and photo printing machines, drawings and patterns can be applied to the surface at the request of customers.
The factory produces mirror and glass:
- ceilings, floors, wall panels;
- stained-glass windows, skinali;
- ballet machines;
- visors, fences, partitions, steps, stairs;
- showers;
- doors.
Gusev Crystal Factory
One of the most famous glass factories in Russia was founded by the merchant A. M altsov back in 1756. From the first years, the company has won the status of the bestdomestic manufacturer of crystal products. The highlight and technological know-how was the unique technology of fine grinding and engraving.
In the 19th century, an advanced method of making better quality lead crystal was mastered. According to contemporaries, the products of the Gusev masters were not inferior to English products, famous throughout the world. Evidence of this is the many gold medals won at prestigious exhibitions.
In 1918, the Gus-Khrustalny combine was formed on the basis of the plant. Although the volumes and assortment have noticeably decreased, the most important thing has been preserved - the traditions and experience gained over the centuries. After a series of reconstructions (the last of which was completed in 2013), the enterprise has become one of the best in the country.
Today, highly artistic products, various serving items, flower vases, souvenirs, interior items are produced here. The craftsmen of the Gusevsky plant are entrusted with the manufacture of valuable prizes, awards, figurines for sports and cultural events.
Chagodoshchensky glass factory
Established in 1931 in the village of Chagoda, Vologda Oblast, near a high-quality clay deposit. In the 1970s and 1980s, it was one of the largest glass factories in Russia. It produced up to 15% of all window glass in the country.
In 1999, the company was redesigned for the production of glass containers, for which two new workshops were built. In 2003, workshop No. 3 was commissioned, equipped with Czech equipment from the Sklostroj company. Today there is a largeproduction of glass bottles with an annual volume of about 1.5 billion glass containers, which makes the Chagodoshchensky plant the largest in the CIS. The range includes bottles, jars, glasses, containers of simple and complex shapes in transparent, green, olive and brown glass.
The highlight of the enterprise are modern high-performance furnaces with different flame directions - transverse and horseshoe. The temperature regime, as well as the level of glass mass, is controlled by an automatic computerized system. Each of the furnaces is equipped with video monitoring systems. In addition to Czech, the production uses equipment from the UK, Italy, Germany. Quality control is monitored by special inspection equipment from the French company SGCC.
