Description

All activities of the Kronstadt Marine Plant are inextricably linked with the Navy. During its more than 150 years of history, it has given new life to thousands of ships. Founded in 1858 as a steamship production, the plant has become a leading center for the reconstruction and modernization of ships for various purposes. Until the early 1990s, the enterprise enjoyed a well-deserved reputation as the flagship of the domestic ship repair. Then came a period of recession.

As noted by Anatoly Vladimirovich Beloev, director of the Kronstadt Marine Plant, in the early 2000s the enterprise was in a fever. Bankruptcy proceedings began, and since 2008, the economic activity of KMZ has generally been suspended and resumed only in2010 with the direct participation and support of the United Shipbuilding Corporation. The new management was tasked with restoring production, realizing the corporatization of production and its entry into JSC USC. By 2016, these goals were successfully achieved.

Field of activity

Kronstadt Marine Plant has three main activities:

  • ship repair;
  • repair of gas turbine engines;
  • metalworking.

Gas Turbine Service

The share of gas turbine production in the total scope of work is about 25%. This direction was created at the Kronstadt Marine Plant back in 1967. Mainly maintenance of gas turbine engines (GTE) on the ships of the Navy is carried out. In addition, over the past two decades, KMZ has mastered the repair of converted plants and units that are used at Gazprom's pumping stations.

Since 2014, when the Russian fleet, for obvious reasons, was no longer able to repair gas turbine engines in Ukraine, the Marine Plant was entrusted with servicing gas turbine engines. This unique production is equipped with a full set of necessary equipment and a test bench complex. In 2016, five gas turbine engines for the fleet were repaired, and the same number should be restored in 2017.

Ship Services

Over 95% of all ship repair workaccount, of course, for the Navy. The Federal State Unitary Enterprise "Kronstadt Marine Plant" repairs and provides maintenance services for more than 125 ships and vessels a year.

Today all the docks of the enterprise are busy. At the dock. F. V. Mitrofanova is being serviced by the frigate of the B altic Fleet Yaroslav the Wise, welding work is underway on the hull of the Shuya ferry and other auxiliary vessels of the Leningrad naval base in the nearby dock "In Memory of Three Destroyers".

Unique work carried out in the dock. P. I. Veleshchinsky, the largest at the Kronstadt Marine Plant. Here, the world's only floating lighthouse "Irbensky" was restored, transferred in the fall of 2016 to Kronstadt from Lomonosov. At the request of the Museum of the World Ocean, the factory workers lovingly restored the hull, repaired the rudder propeller complex, and protected the underwater part from corrosion.

Next to the Irbensky, the flagship of the Leningrad naval base of the training ship Smolny is being repaired. An important mission of the enterprise is the overhaul of low-noise diesel submarines of the Varshavyanka project.

Future plans

Today, the gas turbine production of the plant is fully provided with orders - the company repairs up to 20 engines and GPU units per year. As for ship repair, the management plans to increase it by increasing orders, which would include not short-term, but medium and major repairs of ships to increase their service life.

For this, a program for the re-equipment of dry docks has been prepared, there is a projectShelter dock shelters to ensure quality working conditions regardless of the weather. It is planned to increase the number of berth walls and, accordingly, increase the number of ships that KMZ will be able to simultaneously receive. Among the projects for the development of the plant, the possibility of completing the construction of ships built at enterprises in St. Petersburg is being considered, the concept of building a large-tonnage shipbuilding complex based on the dock named after. P. I. Veleshchinsky.
