Concrete is an indispensable material in construction. Foundations, walls, bridges, etc. are made from it. It is strong and durable, but this composition has one fairly significant drawback - it is not very tensile-resistant. To correct this situation, special metal rods are used, which are called building reinforcement. The rods are cast into concrete to create a structure that can withstand both compression and tension well.
Today, a variety of types of building reinforcement are produced. It can be classified according to the method of manufacture or application, or according to the materials used in the production. Reinforcement, the thickness of which does not exceed 10 mm, is sold in coils. If its diameter in the profile is more than 10 mm, it is cut into bars 6–12 m long.
Two types of reinforcement are produced: with a periodic profile (this term is used by specialists) and smooth reinforcement. The types of this building material in the first case can be covered eitherribs or notches. There are sickle-shaped, mixed and ring varieties. These bars adhere better to concrete, resulting in stronger structures in the end.
Reinforcement (types of which can be designed for a variety of high-strength structures) is made from hot rolled steel by cutting. There is another way - wire, in which hot metal is drawn into a rod. Both hardened steel and plain steel can be used in the manufacture.
In construction, reinforcement of various types of steel is also used. Its types are intended for use in the construction of structures of various strengths and purposes. In order for the consumer to understand what kind of fittings are needed in a particular case, marking is used. For example, products are produced in classes A240, A400, A800, etc.
On sale there are welded and non-welded reinforcement, the types of which differ in that welding can be applied to the first option, and the second becomes brittle with this method of joining into meshes and frames, which inevitably affects the strength of the entire structure. Therefore, non-weldable reinforcement is assembled by tying individual rods with wire. A distinction is also made between tensile-corrosion-resistant equipment and non-resistant equipment. In the first case, products are marked with the letter "C", in the second - with "K".
The purpose and types of fittings can be very different. Howeverone thing is clear - without its use it will not be possible to build a strong and durable structure. A steel base is necessary for the construction of any building, even if it is a small private house.
Besides construction, there is another type of fittings - shut-off. It is mainly used in pipelines to shut off or control liquid or steam flows.
