Channel is a highly demanded product made of metal today. Its main distinguishing feature is the U-shaped section. The thickness of the finished product can be from 0.4 to 1.5 cm, and the height of the walls is 5-40 cm. Thin-shelf products are made by processing a flexible strip using special profile mills. Channels made from non-ferrous metals are obtained after processing the workpiece by pressing and extrusion, and steel channels are obtained using the technology of hot rolling of a metal workpiece at section mills. All varieties of this material are widely used in the construction industry.

Production of steel channel

Steel channel (GOST 8240-97) has a pronounced difference from a conventional beam, which consists in the presence of a special U-shaped section. Such metal products are obtained by hot rolling of blanks or using the technology of cold deformation of steel sheets. It is produced in the form of 3ps/sp5 steel bars and 09g2s alloys. Channels, depending on the shape, are divided into two types:

  • parallel - internal faces are strictly parallel to each other;
  • tapered - internal faces are placed with a slope.
  • channel of various shapes: U-shaped, U-shaped
    channel of various shapes: U-shaped, U-shaped

Scope of application

As mentioned above, the channel is a very popular and popular material, without which no building can do. It is used in the construction of buildings and structures for residential and industrial purposes, private and country houses, fences and fences, bridges, metal structures and farms.

Hot rolled channel

One of the varieties of steel is a hot-rolled channel, the cross section of which is also U-shaped. It is made in the form of two shelves, which are parallel to each other, and one connecting wall. Such a channel is divided into 3 varieties:

  • with a multiple unmeasured length;
  • with multiple measured length;
  • with measured length.

As for the dimensions of the channel, they can be non-standard, since everything depends on the wishes and requirements of the customer. Internal faces should have a slope of no more than 10%. Hot rolled channel is a versatile material for light and heavy industries.

Varieties

Today, there are other types of hot-rolled channel, for example, a special one for the car building industry and the same for the automotive industry. Bent steel channel is made from low-alloy, hot-rolled, cold-rolled and carbon steel on bending machines. It is divided into two types:unequal and equal. Such rolled metal is used in cases where huge bending loads will be placed on the structure under construction.

For the production of low-alloy steel channel, (as the name implies) low-alloy steel is used. It is characterized by high resistance to various dynamic loads and large fluctuations in air temperature.

Symbol:

  • t – shelf thickness;
  • b is its width;
  • h - finished product height;
  • s – wall thickness.

Thus, a steel channel is a product designed to make structures under construction more stable. Such rolled metal takes on the entire axial load and evenly distributes it over its surface. This ensures high rigidity and strength of the metal structure under bending loads.
