Care for zucchini in the open field - the harvest will not keep you waiting

This culture has become more and more of interest to gardeners today, since caring for zucchini in the open field is easier than for other vegetables. Besides, it's quite rewarding, as the harvest won't disappoint.

In the spring, fertilizers, both organic and mineral, are applied to the selected area of the garden, based on the composition of the soil. The beds are prepared two days before sowing seeds or planting seedlings. To keep warm and avoid evaporation of moisture, the ground is covered with a film. When digging new places from the soil, you need to remove all rhizomes, larvae of the cockchafer, etc. The bed should be half a meter wide.

Care for zucchini in the open field involves pre-treatment of planted seeds. Often, gardeners use old material for sowing, and therefore do not get seedlings. Experienced summer residents know that it is more correct to check the seeds for germination in a month or two.

Zucchini has been planted in open ground since the beginning of June. An early harvest is obtained withusing seedlings grown in advance in a greenhouse or even on a windowsill. Caring for zucchini outdoors is not difficult at all. The main thing is to water in time, remove weeds and feed this crop.

Landing should be carried out in the early morning or on a cloudy warm day. Holes are made in the middle of the bed, where two or three seeds are placed at a distance of five centimeters from each other.

Zucchini care is proper watering. Water should be poured so as not to wet the foliage. Before the flowering of the vegetable, watering is done once a week. In this case, the water should be warm, because otherwise the ovaries may begin to rot. In addition, the root system of the crop is exposed from more frequent watering.

Another step in the proper care of zucchini in the open field is mulching with peat humus up to five centimeters thick. Loosening or hilling the ground around the crop is not recommended so as not to weaken the roots. Sometimes, during flowering, pollination is done by hand.

With the increase in the size of the bush, the influx of sunlight to the center of the vegetable crop decreases. Therefore, the light regime is restored by removing the two or three largest leaves.

Caring for zucchini in the open field also consists in timely feeding the plant. This is especially true during the growing season. The first time fertilizers are applied before flowering. The optimal solution is mullein with nitrophoska, diluted with water. The second time feeding is done duringflowering, and the third - already with the appearance of fruits.

Zucchini is a precocious vegetable, so after two months from the moment the first shoots appear, the fruits begin to take off. Harvested usually when the length of the fruit reaches about twenty centimeters.

Fruit should be picked regularly, usually every two or three days. Otherwise, already ripe zucchini begin to slow down the process of creating new ovaries. This vegetable crop bears fruit from July to September, depending on the variety. At the end of August, pieces of glass or boards should be placed under the fruits that have fallen to the ground to prevent decay.
