These and many other questions are of great concern to those people who accidentally ruined their banknotes. Exchange in store

Many people have repeatedly encountered a situation where not the most friendly seller refuses to pay for goods with damaged banknotes. And here we are not even talking about torn banknotes - in most cases, a store employee does not want to accept even neatly and efficiently taped or slightly cut paper.

• banknote just worn and slightly soiled;
• there are small punctures on the money, leaking oil stains, inscriptions;
• the corners are missing.

So are torn bills accepted in the store in practice? And the answer is again no. You can spend much less nerves if you immediately take the damaged money to the bank, and not try to prove your case to the seller.

Exchanging a torn banknote at Sberbank

If you doubt that the seller will not argue with you and will not cast a displeased look, then use the services of the bank. In Sberbank, as well as in any other bank in Russia, you can exchange a torn banknote, badly burned money, even half a banknote. Of course, provided that more than 55% of it survived.

Banks have their own interest in that the damaged money is withdrawn from circulation and not used in the future. First, this question has an aesthetic component. They can be glued on or left as they are. The number of cuts doesn't matter. The main thing is that the bill is not all in them.

If you accidentally washed the money and discolored it, this will not interfere with the exchange. A bank employee will take any burnt, soiled and written-on banknote from you.

You can safely carry even a badly burned bill to the bank if the remaining 55% of it has no damage.

Well, and, of course, all banknotes with minor damage (scuffs, punctures, stains and missing corners) are subject to exchange.

If Russian rubles are exchanged without any problems (of course, subject to the above conditions), then problems may arise with foreign currency. Often, an examination that determines the authenticity of a banknote is carried out at the manufacturer's bank at its expense. The process can take from one week to several months.

The next question will arise when you present the banknote itself. If the bank accepts dollars, euros and the currency of neighboring European countries, then the banknotes of "distant" states may simply not be available. Therefore, complaints about such a refusal by the Central Bank will not be considered.

Yes, and foreign currency requirements will be slightly tightened. Euros and dollars should keep 50% of their surface, Belarusian rubles and Ukrainian hryvnias - 45%.

Commission for exchanging Russian rubles

Even before 2010, everyone who exchanged even Russian rubles faced withholding up to 5% of the exchanged amount in favor of the bank. There is currently no such practice. No bank can oblige to pay for the examination, withhold a commission.
