Increasingly, on the pages of Internet resources for job search, you can find such a vacancy as a hostess. This word is still incomprehensible to many and may cause some not very appropriate associations. And, by the way, there is nothing “such” in this profession. After all, the position of "administrator" is not associated with something indecent, is it? And the hostess is, in fact, the administrator, only his duties include not controlling the work of staff and managing finances, but working directly with the guests of the institution, whether it be a restaurant, cafe or hotel. Its main task is to meet and serve visitors so that they want to come back here again and again.

What are the duties of a hostess? In the job description, which, I must say, is rather big, they are painted literally point by point. Here are the most basic tasks that an employee (usually an employee) should perform as a hostess:

- cordially and always with a smile to meet guests who come to the restaurant (or other institution where such a position is provided);

- accompany them to the table and help them to accommodate, offer menus, recommend those orother dishes;

- take orders (including by phone) for table reservations;

- control the cleanliness in the hall, at the entrance and in the toilets;

- monitor the he alth of equipment, plumbing, inventory, fittings, etc.;

- regularly check the presence and cleanliness of consumables, such as napkins, toothpicks, etc.;

- coordinate the work of the waiters and, if necessary, help them;

- take an active part in the daily cleaning of the establishment;

- have high communication skills, stress resistance and good

memory to establish professional contact with each guest. Regular guests must be known not only by sight, but also by name. It is also desirable to further study their culinary preferences, behavioral characteristics and other nuances of a personal nature;

- be aware of all the events, promotions and special offers of the institution to tell guests about them;

- know at least one foreign language at a conversational level (English or French, and ideally, of course, both).

Perhaps, it will seem to someone that a hostess is not such a difficult job. But there are also enough pitfalls and all sorts of nuances here. Not everyone is able day after day, despite the bad mood and the desire to “kill their neighbor”, to portray genuine joy on their faces, to open the doors to each visitor, to enter into a lively dialogue with them and to do so,so that each of the guests feel the most significant and important. And it doesn’t matter if a person came in with the goal of throwing a feast with a mountain or just drinking a glass of mineral water. A hostess is a cordial, hospitable, caring hostess who should greet visitors the same way she greets her friends at home. Each guest should be given attention. No one should feel left out.

In addition, children often come to the restaurant. The unspoken duty of hostesses in Moscow is to communicate with them. If the child likes that the restaurant gave him a balloon and even gave him a coloring book with colored pencils, he will certainly want to get it again. Thus, the child can make his parents regular customers of the institution.
