Chisel plow (CH) is a mounted implement of a rather complex design, designed for deep non-moldboard loosening of the soil. The width of the soil capture, and consequently, the productivity of processing when using this tool, increases by 1.8 times. You can loosen the soil using a chisel plow to a depth of 45 cm.
Design Advantages
The width of the strip when using this tool can reach up to 12 meters. These plows are equipped with spring struts. Therefore, when using this tool, vibrations are created that provide additional loosening of the soil. Since each leg of the chisel plow is mounted on shock absorbers, among other things, the possibility of damage to the equipment, for example, if it accidentally hits an obstacle, is excluded.
Most inverter models are complemented by a special toothed or tubular roller. These plow design elements are designed to break up large lumps remaining after plowing and to level the field surface. The roller does not work too deep - about 20 cm. Ifthe plow is not originally equipped with it, it can be purchased separately.
Pros of application
When using a tool such as a chisel plow, you can get the following benefits:
- reducing labor costs by an average of 17%;
- up to 30% yield increase;
- Affordable value.
Most often, a plow of this design is used for annual planned plowing with the classical technology of cultivating crops. But it is also allowed to use it to combat overconsolidation of the soil. In the latter case, the cultivation of the land with this tool is carried out approximately once every 3-5 years, or once per crop rotation. The annual use of this tool on neglected fields with highly compacted soil leads to a significant improvement in the quality of the latter. The soil becomes loose, moisture-permeable and water-permeable after three years of using the FC.
The chisel plow can penetrate the soil very deeply. At the same time, after its use, plant residues from the previous crop remain on the surface. This ensures the formation of a large amount of humus. In addition, the straw blanket covering the field further prevents the soil from drying out and protects it from wind and solar erosion.
When using simple reversible plows, a compacted layer is formed in the soil at the border of the arable and subarable layers, which retains water. This leads to the fact that even with a general lack of moisture, its runoff from the fields is significantly increased. A pillow is formed within a fewyears under the weight of conventional plows. When using IF, since in this case the loosening is very deep, this compaction is destroyed very quickly (on some types of soil it goes much deeper). This feature, of course, can also be attributed to the advantages of chisel plows.
What happens to the soil when plowing
It is recommended to use a chisel plow in combination with a BDM disc harrow. When plowing with the use of these two tools, the most favorable conditions are created in the soil for the accumulation of spring moisture. The fact is that at a depth of 15-20 cm in the ground, in this case, the effect of slotting occurs. In this case, the lower layers (up to 50 cm) are partially shifted and loosened. The plowing of the PC is carried out after one pass of the harrow, immediately after harvesting the predecessor.
Use area
Plows FC are used mainly on fallow fields (including on slopes) when cultivating grain crops. They can be used on any soil, except for stony ones, in all agro-climatic zones. Plowing with such a plow is also allowed on soils subject to wind and water erosion.
In addition to grain fields, the chisel plow can be used for deep tillage in orchards and vineyards (between rows). Also, this attachment is often used to rejuvenate meadows and pastures or to improve the drainage properties of the soil.
Types of chisel plows
Models of PW plows existseveral. Structurally, they practically do not differ. The difference is mainly only in the width of the capture bandwidth. You can find out what technical characteristics this or that model has from the table below.
Model | Working width (m) |
Maximum speed (km/h) |
Number of working bodies (pcs) | Maximum working depth (cm) | Capacity (ha/h) | Power requirement (l/s) | Weight (kg) |
IF-2 | 2.3 | 10 | 4 | 45 | 2.3 | 150 | 600 |
IF-3 | 3.2 | 6 | 3.2 | 250 | 850 | ||
IF-4 | 4.5 | 8 | 4.5 | 350 | 1100 |
Models PCh-2, 3 and 4 are used in agriculture most often. However, more productive chisel plows can also be used for tillage. The working width of some models can be 12 m. But their plowing depth is usually less - 23-25 cm.
Producers
Most often, Russian farmers usechisel plows of domestic production, since they are cheaper than imported ones. In our country, FCs are produced by many companies: Yugprom, Rostelmash, BDT-Agro LLC and others. However, the plows manufactured by the manufacturer Altai Machine-Building Plant are the most popular. The products of this company are supplied to the market under the Almaz brand. The advantages of the inverter of this manufacturer include:
- strength and reliability of the structure;
- automatic cleaning of rollers during plowing;
- ease of repair, etc.
Sometimes imported chisel plows are used on domestic fields, of course. Very good feedback from farmers deserved, for example, tools of the brand Lemken. The plows of this German manufacturer are distinguished by excellent build quality, high performance and ease of use. But they are, of course, more expensive than domestic ones.
What tractors are used with
According to the manufacturers' recommendations, a chisel plow that plows to a depth of up to 45 cm can be mounted on equipment with a capacity of at least 150 l / s. Therefore, such models are most often used with tractors T-150, MTZ 1523, 1822, 2022, etc.
Of course, a chisel plow can also be used on less powerful equipment. MTZ 1221 "Belarus" (130 l / s), for example, copes with it very well. However, in this case, a drive is mounted on the tractor, plowing to a depth of no more than 23-25 cm with a working width of 2.4-2.6 m. "," JohnDir 7730" and almost any other models of tractors with a capacity of 80 hp or more of domestic or imported production.
Quick Operating Instructions for Chisel Plow
Plowing with IF is quite easy. Before starting work, the tractor driver only needs to release the control lever to the free position. As a result, the plow will sink to the ground under its own weight. When plowing, the working body of the inverter additionally rests on the wheels. In some cases, the latter are made of metal. But most often, IF plows are complemented by conventional support wheels with a tire and a chamber. Their position, among other things, determines the depth of plowing. Turning at the end of the furrow according to the instructions should be done only after the plow is in transport position.
Reviews about plows "Diamond"
The economic efficiency of the chisel plow, as can be seen from the above, is very high. PCh loosen the soil qualitatively and quickly, and it is not difficult to work on the field with their use. Therefore, the opinion of farmers and machine operators about them, of course, is only good.
As already mentioned, the most popular brand of chisel plows in our country is Almaz. Most machine operators consider them very reliable. At specialized forums, workers of agricultural enterprises even often note the fact that in terms of assembly quality, Almaz plows are absolutely in no way inferior to foreign-made inverters. Praise thismanufacturer, including for the relatively low cost of products, as well as for a fairly wide range.
