Here, special grades of steel are smelted, which are so necessary for the automotive industry, armaments, the production of rockets and aviation equipment, for petrochemical enterprises, research institutes and laboratories. This is the only such enterprise in the south of Russia.
The plant in Volgograd began its career way back in 1897. The Tsaritsyno metallurgical plant (as it was originally called) had a convenient location on the Volga, and after its opening it was a significant competitor to the Ural iron-working manufactories. In 1910, up to 8.5 million poods of high-quality steel were smelted at the enterprise.

The history of the Barricades software goes back to 1914. After the outbreak of the First World War, the army faced a shortage of ammunition and weapons. The government and the military department decided to create a number of new weapons enterprises, one of which was built in Tsaritsyn.
Throughout its history, the plant in Volgograd produced mainly military products. With the beginning of World War II, the company increased production. Especially the army needed artillery, partially lost during the retreat at the initial stage of the war. Up to 1000 guns were assembled here per month. But when the Germans were on the outskirts of Stalingrad, the main facilities were evacuated to Altai.

A year later, more than a hundred pieces of much-needed equipment were assembled in his workshops per day.
With the beginning of the war, the factory workers were able to arrange repairs, and later the manufacture of T-34 tanks, as well as engines for them. Production did not stop even under the bombing and shelling of the fascist army approaching Stalingrad. Only when the fighting spread directly to the territory of the plant, the work of the shops was suspended.
After the war, civilian production continued here. The basis was made by powerful caterpillar tractors of the DT series. Unfortunately, in the early 2000s, the Volgograd Tractor Plant faced intractable financial problems, and in 2007 the enterprise was abolished.
