Of course, for a huge number of residents of the metropolitan metropolis, the phrase "Gorbushka market" has become something of a native, because once it was the only place where you could buy a copy, albeit a "pirate", of a rare movie or an audio cassette with recordings from your favorite rock band.
Surely everyone will agree that "Gorbushkin Dvor" is the most famous trade zone, which has long been formed into a brand, and in fairness it must be said that some "dishonest" entrepreneurs tried to appropriate it to themselves.
A bit of history
It should be noted that the market "Gorbushka" did not appear immediately - it was a natural stage of its formation. It all started on the territory of the Gorbunov Palace of Culture, where concerts of representatives of the "Soviet" rock - the groups "DDT", "Nautilus Pompilius", "Aquarium" were regularly organized.
The metropolitan club of philophonists was also located here, which was more like an alliance of interests in the acquisition, sale and exchange of foreign vinyl records. The "brain" of suchassociations were "professional Soviet speculators" who sold records of foreign music performers on all media known at that time: cassettes, reels and vinyl records.
Initially, trading was not very intensive. The Gorbushka market, whose participants were exclusively philophonists, occupied only the inner space of the Gorbunov Palace of Culture. Over time, the club of philophonists began to disintegrate, and by the mid-80s of the last century, merchants began to offer their goods directly in the fresh air - on the territory of the alleys leading to the Palace of Culture.
Flourishing Trade
Already in the early 90s of the last century, the Gorbushka market became one of the most popular trading places. It was a time when new trends in civil society were irreversible and large-scale. In a matter of months, shops on Gorbushka grew like mushrooms after rain, but they did not look like modern shopping malls - they were simple trading tents. The range of products offered also increased.
To be fair, it should be noted that audio and video cassettes could be purchased not only at Gorbushkin Dvor, but real connoisseurs and connoisseurs of the business went to this place for goods. Why? This was due to the fact that here you could buy the first copies of the recordings made from the original. Over time, Gorbushka merchants began to sell ordinary copied material, and in 1992-1993 the entire market was already filled with unimaginably diverserange of home appliances and electronics models.
CD era
It should be noted that in the early 90s of the last century, most of the CDs at Gorbushkin Dvor were pirated, while licensed video cassettes could be found much more often. The main suppliers of "fakes" in the Russian market were such countries as China, Ukraine and Bulgaria. However, domestic businessmen did not want to lag behind their competitors, and soon Russian companies began to supply consumers with pirated copies. Of course, if the buyer was looking for something exclusive and at the same time real, then it was offered to him at a triple price.
In the conditions of unfair competition, the copyright holders had no choice but to suffer losses, but soon they found a way out: they began to create special products in Russian. They were slightly more expensive than pirated copies, but cheaper than the original.
Market close rumors
At the beginning of the 2000s of this century, merchants and buyers suddenly started talking about the fact that the city authorities would close the shopping complex, which is considered the largest center for the sale of unlicensed products.
Added fuel to the fire and journalists who misinterpreted the words of one of the chiefs of the capital's UBEP. Then the headlines of the capital's newspapers were full of the fact that Gorbushka would be closed not today or tomorrow.
Despite the fact that the electronics market, located on the territory of Gorbushkin Dvor, was a popular shopping place, sinceprices have always been low here, local officials and the administration of DK Gorbunov considered the above trade zone as a threat to the domestic economy. One way or another, but none of the supervisory structures had a clear solution to this problem.
"Gorbushka" was formed spontaneously, and there was no official documentation on the establishment of this object. For this reason, it was also not easy to close the market from a legal point of view.
Market closing procedure being put into practice
And yet, the time has come when "Gorbushkin Dvor" ceased to function. This was initiated by representatives of the interdepartmental commission, which were authorized to issue official permits for the sale of licensed products. Officials issued a document allowing trade to the merchants of Gorbushkin Dvor for a period of six months, after which their business ceased. It should be noted that other markets in Moscow, such as those located near the Rizhskaya, Prazhskaya and Yasenevo metro stations, received much longer permits.
However, the Gorbushka entrepreneurs were not going to give up just like that: they regularly staged protests. However, they did not have the desired effect, and over time, the activists went home.
The brand has become widely exploited
After the merchants from Gorbushka were left without work, shopping complexes began to appear on the territory of the metropolitan metropolis, hiding behind the famous brand.
One of the first to position itself as "Gorbushkin Dvor" "Music Park", located near the metro station "Maryino". After that, the administrations of the Mitinsky market and the market located near the Mozhayskoye highway wanted to get a certain status. A little more time passed, and the Gorbushki appeared both in CSKA and within the boundaries of the Rubin plant. The first, it should be noted, did not last long. The founder of the second was the owner of the former music market himself - he also registered all the rights to the Gorbushkin Dvor brand and assured all unscrupulous businessmen that he would zealously defend them in court if necessary.
"Gorbushka" today
Currently "Gorbushka" is a modern shopping and entertainment complex with a covered area. It is located on the territory of the Rubin plant. Today, as in Soviet times, games, films and music with pirated software are sold.
However, there are plenty of licensed products here. If you need a modern and functional tablet, TV or a powerful speaker system, then you will find it all in Gorbushkiny Dvor electronics stores.

By metro you should get to the station "Bagrationovskaya", and from there you need to gotowards the market, after which the former building of the Rubin plant is located on the left side.
