Nikolai Maksimov was born in Yekaterinburg in 1957. At first, the future entrepreneur was looking for a place in the sun, wanting to enter a military flight school. But fate turned out so that for the first time, upon admission, he did not have enough points for the competition, and the next time, his he alth failed. Therefore, he had to say goodbye to this idea. After that, Nikolai Maksimov decides to go to serve in the army, but his uncle quickly dissuades him.
The next frontier in the biography of the future entrepreneur was work at the Ural Electrochemical Plant, where he had to work for fifteen years as a radio equipment adjuster. The main activity during this period of Nikolai Maksimov's life was traveling work for various military units of Russia, where he was engaged in a system for checking the combat readiness of missiles. In parallel with this, the future businessman studied at the evening department of the Sverdlovsk Mining University.
First Steps in Entrepreneurship
Money after graduation was not enough, so Maksimov Nikolai Viktorovich decides to take on a side job, namely the cultivation of cucumbers on twenty acres in the city of Troitsk, Chelyabinsk region. Further, in 1991, a commodity exchange was opened in Yekaterinburg, after which Maximov firmly accepteddecision to apply for a job as a broker. For a long time they did not respond to her, but nevertheless, at one fine moment, one Moscow company offers him this position. At the same time, Nikolai Maksimov decides to open his own enterprise, which would be engaged in the trade in wood and paper. They called the company "NikTan", that is, Nikolai and Tatyana (the first wife of the entrepreneur). 1991 was the starting year for Maximov, it was from this time that his entrepreneurial activity began. The following year, Nikolai begins to supply scrap to Uralelectromed. In 1992-1997, he was among the high-ranking officials of Likonda CJSC, initially in the role of Deputy General Director, and then he directly occupied this position.
Opening of a steel company
His next step is to buy stakes in three small factories in the Urals. In 1996, Maksimov acquires the Revdinsky Metallurgical Plant. In 1998, he opens his own company "Maxi-Group". It united not only previously acquired plants, but also the Uralvtormet company. Its main activity was the production of metallurgical products from ferrous metals. The net profit of "Maxi-Group" in 2005 amounted to 1.27 billion rubles. However, things did not go as smoothly as Maximov would have liked. By 2007, the entrepreneur had accumulated large debt obligations in the amount of 1.8 billion United States dollars. In this regard, Maksimov decides to sell part of the sharescompanies. Regarding the conclusion of the deal, he negotiated with Russian businessmen whose business interests included the metallurgical industry, namely Alexander Frolov, Alisher Usmanov and Alexei Mordashov. As a result of the negotiations, the deal was finalized not with them, but with the owner of the Novolipetsk Iron and Steel Works, Vladimir Lisin, who received fifty percent of the shares. However, already after three months after the sale, litigation begins. Maksimov accused Lisin of incomplete payment of funds for the transaction, Vladimir, on the contrary, claimed that Nikolai Viktorovich violated the terms of the agreement.
Good investment
In 2009, Maksimov started playing on the stock exchange. His brokers were such companies as Renaissance Capital, VTB Bank, Troika Dialog, UralSib. In March of the same year, Maximov made a unique investment. During the fall of quotations, Nikolai Viktorovich acquired shares of Sberbank, approximately 1.5 percent. Thus, the entrepreneur of all businessmen in Russia became the largest private shareholder in the country's main state bank. The success of Nicholas did not end there. He predicted an increase in the value of shares, as a result, they increased almost five times.
In autumn 2009, a successful businessman decides to register his place of residence in the Kirov region. The entrepreneur considered it best to pay income tax there and build a plant in this part of the Russian Federation. At the same time, Russian special services began to suspect Maksimov of exaggeration.official powers when using material resources, which, according to the law, should have been invested in the investment development of the Maxi-Group company. Law enforcement agencies opened three criminal cases against the businessman, including two under Part 4 of Art. 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (fraud committed by an organized group of persons or on an especially large scale).
