Man began to fish in prehistoric times. At the sites of ancient people, archaeologists, among other things, find jagged bone harpoons, as well as stone sinkers for nets. Even today, in the cold regions of the planet, on the shores of the seas and rivers, different nationalities live, for whom fish remains the main type of food consumed both in summer and in winter.

Definition

Actually, fishing is the activity of extracting aquatic biological resources and their primary processing. Enterprises in this industry can engage in:

  • directly harvesting fish and other marine biofauna;
  • transportation, storage and unloading of seafood;
  • production of semi-finished fish.

Types of fishing

Fish on Earth inhabits almost all water bodies. Accordingly, the fishing industry, including in Russia, can be:

  • marine;
  • ocean;
  • river and lake.

Industrial fishing in our time inIn most cases, it is carried out, of course, in the seas and oceans. One of the features of such a fishery is that its effectiveness directly depends on the degree of development of new territories, as well as on the ecological situation in this particular region.

Basic rule

Organizations and enterprises carry out fishing in the seas, oceans and rivers today, of course, in accordance with the standards provided for by various regulatory industrial and environmental documents. Each such company must adhere to the main rule of fishing - only a small percentage of individuals are allowed to be removed from the population. The final figures for each specific species of aquatic fauna in a given region are determined separately. But in any case, the percentage of individuals caught should be such that it does not in any way affect the population after the breeding season.

Psychological aspects

Environmental protection developed countries, including Russia, pay a lot of attention these days. Control over the catch of fish in our country is quite strict. But sometimes the problem of the disappearance of certain species of aquatic fauna is still exaggerated in the press. And the culprits, oddly enough, are often the fishermen themselves.

But the representatives of this profession themselves are usually quite wary of the commissioning of new effective fishing tools. The ocean is a space, unfortunately, absolutely unpredictable. It often happens that ina lot of fish were caught in the same place in one year, and the next season it simply disappeared. Of course, fishermen and residents of coastal settlements make a seemingly logical conclusion from this. There is no fish because it was caught too intensively.

Sea fishing

However, this approach is often completely unreasonable. According to experts, fishing can have a direct negative impact mainly only on late-maturing fish species that are prone to creating dense and stable long-term aggregations. These can be, for example:

  • whitebark halibut;
  • sea bass;
  • flounder.

On the number of the main species of fish suitable for human food, marine fishing usually has practically no effect. In addition to flounder, perch and halibut, according to experts, only haddock, herring and cod should be limited. In the future, this will increase the production of such fish by 20-30%. The catch limit will also lead to the fact that individuals of these varieties, according to ichthyologists, will grow larger.

Small fish, according to experts, can be caught without worrying about their numbers. These varieties include sprat, saury, capelin and others.

The most popular marine fish

Of course, the world today keeps statistics on the intensity of fisheries. It is believed that the most popular representative of the marine fauna in terms of fishing is currentlypollock. High commercial qualities are also distinguished by:

  • sturgeon;
  • salmon;
  • carp;
  • herring;
  • cod;
  • scumbroid.

In recent years, enterprises in this industry in Russia annually catch more than 4 million tons of various kinds of commercial fish and other representatives of underwater fauna. That is, the Russian Federation is already able to provide its population with such products to the full extent.

Fishing centers in Russia

Most of the marine biofauna in our country is mined, of course, in the Far East. The most important water areas in the region are Sakhalin, Amur, the Okhotsk coast, and Primorye. Recently, Russian vessels of the Far Eastern fleet have also been fishing in the waters of the Indian Ocean and the South Pacific.

Of course, fishing is very well developed in our country and in Kamchatka. Once upon a time, the Oktyabrsky state farm was engaged in the production and processing of fish in this area. Today, on its ruins, a rather large farm called the Peoples of the North has also grown.

Russians catch quite a lot of fish in the Caspian Sea. As in many other fishing areas of the country, there are registered companies involved in the capture of marine biofauna and its processing. For example, the Astrakhan fishery has quite good indicators. The companies of this region cover all the main industry areas of activity: commodityfishing, raw material processing, reproduction, scientific research, etc.

Produce aquatic biofauna on the territory of Russia, of course, and in the B altic Sea (Kaliningrad region), as well as in the Black and Azov. Some fish also come to market from the Arctic Ocean.

Fishing Trade House

Of course, in Russia there are companies involved in the final processing of seafood. One of the largest companies in this specialization in our country at the moment is Fishery LLC. This company supplies the market, for example, with products such as fresh and canned squids, carcasses of various types of fish, dried, smoked, fresh, shrimp, mussels, etc. The products of this company are always popular with consumers not only for their good quality, but also relatively low cost.

LLC "Astrakhansky fishery" is one of the leading fishing and processing companies in Russia. It has been operating since 1999, producing about three hundred items of products.

Interesting facts

People have been engaged in fishing in Astrakhan, the Atlantic, the Far East, the Caspian Sea, the B altic Sea, etc. for a very long time. And of course, a lot of interesting facts are connected with this type of activity. We said above that the opinion about the depletion of marine fauna due to fishing may be unfounded. This is confirmed, for example, by the fact that in 1376 English fishermen filed a complaint against a new fishing gear,reminiscent of a modern trawl. According to the fishermen, this device could devastate all the seas and oceans in a few years.

Quite interesting facts related to fishing can be considered as follows:

  • 31.5 million tons of fish annually on the planet are fed to farm animals;
  • another 27 million tons are recognized by processing enterprises as unusable and simply thrown away;
  • when catching wild salmon, the net gets tangled and subsequently another 137 species of marine animals die;
  • 28,000 sea turtles enter shrimp trawler nets every year;
  • gets tangled in fishing nets and about 300,000 whales, porpoises, dolphins;
  • sharks kill up to 12 people a year, people kill up to 11,500 sharks an hour;
  • About 73 million sharks are thrown back into the sea every year after their fins are clipped.

According to statistics, 85% of imported fish in our country, no matter how suppliers claim it, are not wild specimens at all. At the moment, mainly artificially grown fish is brought to Russia, the meat of which contains a lot of carcinogens.

All the above facts, unfortunately, are quite sad. However, it is absolutely impossible to punish unscrupulous companies for the irrational use of marine resources. There are currently no global legal regulations governing fishingexists.
