A transformer is an electrical device that transforms electrical energy into magnetic energy and vice versa. There are several types of transformers: current transformer, voltage transformer, autotransformer, impulse voltage and current transformer, etc. The TMG 1000 kVA transformer is a power voltage transformer that is used to receive, convert and transmit electrical energy from power lines.
How a transformer works
The figure shows that the TMG 1000 kVA transformer has a primary winding, a magnetic circuit and a secondary winding. Both the primary and secondary windings envelop the magnetic circuit. If an alternating current is applied to the primary winding of the device, then a magnetic field arises around the turns of the winding. The magnetic flux moves along the magnetic circuit and thus reaches and passes through the turns of the secondary winding. Magnetic energy is converted into electrical energy, as a result of which an alternating current appears in the secondary winding. Thanks to this simple device, voltage transformation occurs. The transformation ratio is adjusted by increasing or decreasing the number of winding turns.
Design features of the TMG 1000 kVA transformer
The transformer tank is made of high quality steel and has a rectangular shape. To increase the heat transfer area, the walls of the tank are corrugated, the so-called radiator. The tank does not have an expansion oil barrel. The active part of the transformer consists of a magnetic circuit, a primary multilayer winding, a secondary multilayer winding and a high-voltage switch. The primary, as well as the secondary, winding can be made in two versions - copper or aluminum. The active part of the transformer is attached to the cover, which makes it easy to disassemble it for repair. The magnetic circuit is made of electrical steel. On the cover of the tank there is a valve for pouring transformer oil. At the bottom of the tank there is an oil drain plug and a ground bolt. A float-type oil indicator is mounted on the tank cover, with which you can find out the oil level in the tank. There is also a thermometer that indicates the temperature of the oil. Removable high and low voltage leads are also installed there, they are made through porcelain bushings. The tank is mounted on rollers, which makes it possible to move the transformer, both along and across, without much effort.
Specifications
The TMG 1000 kVA power transformer is designed to reduce voltage in a three-phase electrical network. This is a two winding transformer.converts electrical energy from high-voltage electrical networks with a voltage of 6-35 kV to a low-voltage voltage up to a standard of 0.4 kV. The transformer is marked as follows: TMG - 1000/10 U1 - Х.
- T - three-phase transformer.
- M - oil cooled.
- G - sealed.
- 1000 - power rating, measured in kVA.
- 10 - primary voltage rating, measured in kV, other options are possible: 6 kV and 35 kV.
- U1 - climatic version, ambient temperature from -40 C0 to +40 C0, also can be HL1 from -60 C0 to +40 C0.
- X is the value of short circuit and no-load losses.
