Most of the population perceives going to the tax office as a punishment. Indeed, the associations that this instance evokes are usually negative. Meanwhile, it is possible and necessary to apply to the inspection not only for the purpose of declaring one's income, but also for receiving funds. The tax social deduction is what is due to everyone who has incurred the cost of paying for education, treatment, additional insurance, and so on. The following describes when it can be obtained and what is required.

Tax social deduction for medical treatment

You can get it if you have received medical services on a paid basis: doctor's consultations, diagnostics, hospitalization, and so on. They also include the purchase of medicines.

The maximum cost of treatment for which you can receive a refund does not exceed 120 thousand rubles. This amount is standard for most deductions.

The exception in this case would be expensive treatment. On it you can get a deduction, the amount of which will bebe defined as 13% of expenses incurred (if the income tax paid covers or equals this amount). The list of such services is determined by the government. So, it includes some types of surgical interventions, therapeutic and combined treatment of various diseases.

Training tax deduction

In this case, you can receive compensation for tuition costs:

  • own;
  • their children (brothers/sisters).

Paid from own funds can be any education (secondary, higher, courses).

But if we are talking about children (brothers / sisters), then you can make a deduction only if education is obtained at the full-time department of a higher educational institution.

The size of the deduction is also different. The first category of such returns falls under general standards, in the second the maximum is 50 thousand, that is, no more than 6.5 thousand rubles can be returned. True, if not one, but several children receive education, the deduction is due to everyone.

Other types of deductions

You can also receive part of the money spent if they were donated to charity. The maximum refundable amount is calculated as 13% of a quarter of income for the year.

These expenses, upon receipt of the deduction, are not summed up with those spent on education and treatment.

Retirement expenses are also eligible for tax refunds. The maximum deductible in thiscase is also the standard value.

Filing a tax deduction

The documents you need to submit for a refund vary depending on the type of expense incurred. In all cases, you will have to fill out a declaration (3 personal income tax) and confirm income (2 personal income tax).

The maximum amount of compensation that can be received is 15,600 rubles (13% of 120,000 rubles). However, having spent 100,000 per year on treatment and the same amount on education, you can still return no more than this amount. The exceptions are those cases when the education was paid not for one's own, but for the child (brother, sister), spending on charity and expensive treatment. Expenses under these items are considered separately.

It takes up to four months from the date of submission of documents to receive a tax deduction.

As for queues and paperwork, it is worth noting that the ongoing modernization of the tax service is bearing fruit: many metropolitan inspections have organized an electronic queue and the number of employees who receive documents has been increased. Moreover, citizens have the opportunity to make an appointment.

Filling out the declaration for the first time is likely to raise a lot of questions. You can significantly simplify your task if you download a special program that allows you to do this while sitting at home (you will have to enter significantly less data, and at the same time you will be able to avoid mistakes). You can contact the inspector for help. And of course, it would be nice to study a sample of a completed declaration, which you canfind in each district tax office.

In any case, it is better to overcome yourself and do it, because the tax social deduction can be received not once, but repeatedly.
