Demikhovskiy Machine-Building Plant has been producing multiple-unit rolling stock for more than 20 years. During this time, the company has developed more than two dozen different types of electronic trains. And the production includes more than 8,000 cars. Beginning and development
Few people know that the history of the DMZ dates back to the distant 1935, when the plant was used to provide the USSR with specialized chemical equipment. At that time, the number of employees of this enterprise was only 100 people, and during its existence it managed to endure a huge number of changes and re-profiling stages.

A new stage in history
In the late 80s of the last century, there was a complete re-profiling of the production of this enterprise. In connection with the introduction of new technology and the development of the operation of 12 and 14-car electric trains, it was necessary to ensure the most urgent modernization of rolling stock. At the same time, it is worth noting the fact that the Riga Carriage Works, which at that time was the main producer of commuter trains in the USSR, was clearly unable to cope with the emerging demand.
It is for this reason that the Demikhov Machine-Building Plant began its work in this direction. Feedback from employees working at the enterprise during all this time indicates that, despite all kinds of malfunctions, the company's management should always ensure maximum convenience and comfort for its employees, as well as for all passengers who will subsequently use their products..
In 2006, the Demikhov Machine-Building Plant produced and sold 571 cars of electronic trains of the ED4M, ED4MK, and ED9M models, while this enterprise sold all kinds of spare parts for more than 40 million rubles. Costsnote the fact that in 2006 this enterprise made its own development - the ED4MKM train model. In the future, the first version of such an electric train was certified only in 2008. It was intended for the so-called intermodal transport. Over time, production growth only increased, and in 2007, 630 electric train cars were sold, including the updated model ED9MK.
Modern developments
In 2015, after a small crisis, the development of a specialized suburban electronic train model EP2D began. This composition is the successor to the ED4M 500 series models. It complies with the latest safety requirements established by the countries of the Customs Union and is designed to provide comfortable passenger transportation on sections where the gauge is 1520 mm and where the electrified direct current has a voltage of 3000 V.
It is worth noting the fact that the new train model can operate on any line, regardless of the height of the platforms. At the moment, it is planned to create in the near future a similar model of the EP3D AC electric train, as well as a specialized diesel train.
Production scale
Special attention should be paid to the impressive production capacity of the Demikhov Machine-Building Plant. At the moment, the area of the enterprise is 47.2 hectares, on which there are assembly and welding, mechanical assembly, car assembly, procurement and pressing andmany other shops. Thus, the complex work of several departments allows us to ensure the most productive and high-quality work, because control over the execution of technology is carried out even in the process of manufacturing small parts.
Demikhov Machine Building Plant provides jobs for more than 2,400 people, while a significant part of the company's employees includes top-level specialists with extensive experience in the field of mechanical engineering.
