Moscow Locomotive Repair Plant is a specialized enterprise that repairs and modernizes railway cars, locomotives, and also produces some types of equipment and spare parts for Russian Railways rolling stock.
Pre-revolutionary history of the plant
Moscow Locomotive Repair Plant was founded in 1900. Construction in Perov began due to the fact that three railway lines intersected in the town - Okruzhnaya, Kazanskaya, Nizhny Novgorod. The rolling stock was gradually aging, passenger and freight cars periodically broke down. To solve all the problems that arose, centralized workshops for current repairs were required, located not far from the capital. Perovo near Moscow turned out to be an ideal place.
The opening took place in 1901, from the report of the Highest Commission it is known that the workshops studied met all modern requirements, but needed to be developed and provided with the latest technology. The initial material base was transferred to the Moscowlocomotive repair plant from the former carriage workshops of the capital. Enterprise Features
Until 1917, the company belonged to one owner - von Meck, who also owned the Moscow-Ryazan railway. From 1900 to 1905, all the necessary work was carried out in 4 workshops - mechanical, blacksmith, woodworking, commodity.
In 1907, a workshop for servicing passenger cars was put into operation. Before the revolution, all work was carried out in a primitive and difficult way, mainly manual labor was used, which significantly reduced the quality of repairs and hampered the development of the material base.
New time
After the October events of 1917, the enterprise was idle for some time, but the need to restore the railway passenger and freight train was acute. Gradually, manual labor began to be forced out at the Moscow Locomotive Repair Plant. Tools and mechanisms, machine tools appeared, old buildings expanded and new workshops were built. In 1928, the company employed more than 1,700 people. Since 1929, the production of electric trains began in Russia, the railway workers switched to electric traction. In this connection, the need for repair work of new equipment inevitably arose. By 1930, the plant fully met the country's needs for repair and restoration.all types of wagons and locomotives.
The first repair of the electrical section took place at the Moscow Locomotive Repair Plant in 1938. In the post-war period, the enterprise underwent transformations. As a result of the reforms, since 1946, the workshops have been engaged in the maintenance and repair of electric rolling stock, completely abandoning work with wagons. Two years later, the enterprise began preparations for the organization of the material base for repairs of electric locomotives. The first model of equipment that received repairs was an experimental locomotive of the VL19-01 brand, in the future, the plant's capabilities expanded significantly, the restoration of electric locomotives VL-8 and VL-23 was mastered.
In addition to repair activities, the Moscow Locomotive Repair Plant produced specialized railway equipment - assembly trains, switchgear kits, traction mobile power plants and ice plants, experimental equipment and much more. In 1976, the enterprise was awarded the Order of the Red Banner of Labor for high achievements.
Modernity
With the advent of the period of economic reforms, the enterprise needed transformation. In May 2001, on the basis of the existing state-owned company, OJSC Moscow Locomotive Repair Plant was established, the founders were OJSC Russian Railways and the non-profit organization Center for Organizational Support for the Structural Reform of Railway Transport. The authorized capital was the material assets of MLRZ.
The economic activity of the company started in 2007. New legal and financi althe status of the Moscow Carriage Repair Plant made it possible to set new goals and achieve the fulfillment of priority tasks. Today, the enterprise is one of the largest production complexes equipped with modern technology, and remains the industry leader in many positions.
