Ulan-Ude Locomotive Car Repair Plant (Zheldorremmash branch) is a large organization in Buryatia. The region served by the plant covers a huge distance (from the Northern to the Far Eastern railway), and the produced spare parts are sent for sale abroad.
A bit of history
In 1932, it was decided to build a plant that would repair steam locomotives and wagons, this was a grandiose construction project in which the whole country took part. And in 1934 the first steam locomotive was repaired.
During the war years, the workers of the plant repaired wagons, steam locomotives, and also produced special products and sent them to the front. The plant was awarded the Red Banner of the State Defense Committee three times.
Currently, LVRZ is constantly upgrading equipment to increase its output and improve the working conditions of employees.

Ulan-Ude Locomotive Car Repair Plant is located in the Republic of Buryatia, in the city of Ulan-Ude, along Limonova Street 2b. You can get to it by routes number 3, 23, 46, 51, 57, 177; by trams No. 1, 2, 4, 5. You need to get off at the stop "Prohodnaya LVRZ".
The number of employees of the enterprise is more than 5 thousand people. Administrative staff is available from Monday to Friday from 08:00 to 17:00, with a lunch break from 12:30 to 13:30.
The plant consists of three main production facilities, which repair and modernize rolling stock, produce 12,000 types of spare parts, as well as various tools.
Locomotive repair production. It performs repairs of locomotives, wheel sets, as well as the manufacture of spare parts.
Casting and mechanical production - production of parts and blanks: components of automatic couplers and axle boxes, cylinders, gears, springs.
Auxiliary production. This production includes workshops that provide the enterprise with energy resources, transportation, tools, with the help of which equipment and buildings are overhauled, equipment is dismantled and installed.
Factory news
In July 2018, new equipment worth several million rubles was sent to the LVRZ to carry out a program to repair new locomotives. It is planned to modernize the electric machine production, in which 120 million rubles will be invested, and the wheel production, the improvement of which, according to preliminary estimates, will cost 330 million.
When summing up the results of work for the first half of the year, 100% completion of the repair volumes was established, the increase in the volume of overhaul was 53%, the repair of electric locomotives - 8.5%.
In October, the LVRZ opened its doors to schoolchildren and students, in total about three hundred people visited the workshops and the museum. Young people learned about the history and prospects of this enterprise, visited workplaces and took part in master classes.
On October 29, 2018, in honor of the 100th anniversary of the Komsomol, a capsule with a letter for the youth of 2043 was laid on Komsomolskaya Square near the monument to fallen soldiers.
