Mulardy ducks are a breed bred by crossing musky and domestic white Peking ducks. This hybrid is completely sterile. True, females carry eggs, but not fertilized. This broiler variety is bred for meat and liver. Growing ducklings of this breed is not too difficult, as they usually have excellent he alth. In addition, this cross is very productive, and its meat has simply excellent taste. It is much more difficult, in fact, to breed ducklings.

The fact is that Muscovy and Peking ducks differ greatly in the way they care. In addition, the structural features of the body of these two breeds often prevent effective mating. Mulard ducklings are bred in an incubator. In this case, the yield depends on which male was used for mating. The most active individuals are best suited for this purpose. There should be no more than four ducks per drake. Under these conditions, the yield can reach 80%. Sometimes artificial insemination is also used.

Successful cultivation of mulard ducks is possible only if the right conditions are created in the room wherethey are contained. Before the chicks hatch, the barn must be carefully prepared. The floor is preliminarily sprinkled with lime at the rate of half a kilo per square meter. Then arrange a bedding layer of sunflower husks or sawdust. Its optimal thickness is 15 cm.

In the future, when keeping a bird, it will have to be updated from time to time.

Growing ducklings of this breed is no different from feeding any broilers. Hatched incubator chicks are able to eat on their own very poorly. Therefore, at first they need a little help. To do this, a weak solution of potassium permanganate (a couple of drops) is instilled into each duck's beak and crumbled egg yolk is poured onto a flat, uncontaminated surface. You can use ordinary plywood for this purpose.

Those who want to breed this breed should know that raising ducklings has some peculiarities. The main one is that the chicks should get a lot of greenery. You can start adding it to the feed of mulardam already on the third day, having previously finely chopped it. Then, when the kids grow up a little, they can be walked.

And although the presence of a reservoir for these ducks is considered optional, if a stream flows on the site or there is a pond, they should be used for walking young animals. At the same time, you should be aware that hatchery chicks can be launched into the water not earlier than they have good plumage.

A few days after the mulards try the first weed, you need togradually begin to introduce other products into the diet - crushed potatoes, boiled potatoes, whey, etc. Cultivation of ducklings of crosses is made up to 60 days of age. Then they have a juvenile molt and growth stops, and therefore it seems inappropriate to continue feeding them. Yes, and it is more difficult to process the carcasses of overexposed ducks, since in the third month of growth they begin to form feather stumps. At the same time, they completely lose their presentation.

Thus, subject to certain rules, simply excellent broiler ducklings can be fed. Growing them requires some experience and patience, but nothing particularly difficult.
