Cucumbers are liana-like annual plants belonging to the gourd family. The origin is Indian, so they are light, moisture and thermophilic. Currently, breeders and amateurs have bred many varieties and hybrids that differ in many ways.

Cucumber "Herman" is a Dutch breeding hybrid, which is in high demand among buyers. Its fruits are very tasty, have a cylindrical shape, rich emerald color with a slight white bloom, a dense texture without voids, large tubercles on the skin. There is absolutely no bitterness in them. Herman cucumbers can be used fresh and for canning.

Description of them from the point of view of a farmer or summer resident: high-yielding, early ripening, parthenocarpic (pollinators are not required), forming 5, less often 6 fruits in a node. Fruiting begins around the 40th day. Plants develop strong, resistant to many diseases.

Cucumber "Herman" can be grown in seedling and non-seedling ways. In the second case, the timing of sowing depends on the warming of the soil. As a rule, the required soil temperature for seed germination is established by the end of May. Seed too deep inground should not be, 1.5 cm is enough.

To determine the date of sowing seeds for seedlings, it is necessary to subtract about 25 days from the estimated date of planting in a greenhouse (open ground). Treated seeds do not need to be treated, and it is advisable to hold the untreated seeds for half an hour in the Fitosporin solution, prepared according to the instructions.

Make drainage holes in the sowing container and fill them halfway with disinfected soil (purchased for seedlings or prepared on your own) and spill with water. It is advisable to immediately grow each plant in a separate pot in order to less injure the roots during transplantation. Seeds of cucumbers "Herman" deepen by 1 cm, cover with a transparent film or glass. Place crops in a warm, bright room.

Seed germination occurs quickly, about 4 days. After a couple of days, the temperature will need to drop to 18 0С so that the seedlings do not stretch. As the plants grow, soil similar to the sowing should be added to the container, deepening the young plants along the cotyledon leaves. With this technique, additional roots develop. Watering seedlings should be reasonable, stagnant water is unacceptable.

By the time of planting in the greenhouse (open ground), the beds should be prepared, well fertilized. By this time, the German cucumber will have 4 true leaves and, possibly, the first tendril. It is desirable to grow it in a vertical version: the leaves and fruits will not come into contact with the soil, they will be better illuminatedsunlight, harvesting is more pleasant and easier.

Care for cucumbers consists in regular watering, and under the root, but so that water does not fall on the stems. It is better to mulch the soil, because loosening is not desirable due to the superficial root system of plants. Any movement of the soil will damage the suction hairs of the roots, which do not regenerate and new ones take time to grow. Weeds should not be pulled out with roots either, it is better to cut them periodically at soil level.

Be sure to water with warm water (cold water is not absorbed by the roots, moreover, plant growth stops). Top dressing is required regular with both organic matter and the mineral complex. No shaping or pinching required. To always have a decent harvest, plant a Herman cucumber. Those who have already tried this hybrid respond only positively and are not going to refuse it.
