The general public is used to hearing the name of Sergei Bogdanchikov in connection with the affairs of the oil company Rosneft. However, he has come a long way before her and continues to live even after leaving the raw material enterprise. Today, journalists are most interested in Sergei Mikhailovich Bogdanchikov after Rosneft, what he does and how he survived the decline of his career. Let's talk about how the life of an entrepreneur developed, and why his name became widely known.
Early years
Bogdanchikov Sergei Mikhailovich was born on August 10, 1957 in the small family village of Bogdanovka, which is located in the Northern District of the Orenburg Region. Bogdanchikov's father was a simple collective farmer, today he is buried in the cemetery of his native village. Mom still lives in Bogdanovka and does not want to move to the capital, although her son persuaded her more than once. She used to work at a school and was veryexacting attitude to the upbringing of her son. Talking about Sergei's childhood, his mother says that he grew up as a very hardworking and sociable boy. He always helped his parents with the housework: he looked after the animals, worked in the garden, chopped firewood. At the age of 6, he stayed with his younger sister when his parents left for work. Since childhood, Sergei was very fond of reading, and this led to the fact that his eyesight began to drop sharply. By the sixth grade, he already had grade 4 myopia, and soon one eye stopped seeing at all. Bogdanchikov corrected his vision, already being an adult and we althy person. And at school, he had to listen to a lot of offensive nicknames that teased him for wearing glasses.
Education
In his native village Bogdanchikov Sergei Mikhailovich graduated from only 8 classes. Then it was decided not to study at school, and he went to Buguruslan, where he entered the oil technical school. In his first year, he had an acute attack of appendicitis, and due to illness he had to miss two months of classes. But Sergey was able to catch up and all the years at the technical school he studied only for five. In 1976, he successfully completed his studies and entered the Oil Institute in Ufa. During his student years, he successfully combined his studies with athletics. In 1981, he graduated from the university with a red diploma in the speci alty "Technology and integrated mechanization of the development of oil and gas fields."
Beginning of a career
Despite an honors degree, after graduationstudy Bogdanchikov Sergei Mikhailovich received not the most prestigious distribution, he was sent to the small village of Kolendo on Sakhalin. He started as a simple engineer, but after 2 years he was appointed head of the shop at Okhaneftegazdobycha. He showed himself as a competent manager, and this did not go unnoticed. In 1994, he was already the general director of the main mining enterprise on Sakhalin, Sakhalinmorneftegaz. The enterprise subordinated to Bogdanchikov brought a third of all the income of the island. Colleagues and the public hoped that Sergei Mikhailovich would go to power, but he did not do this, although he was promised the post of governor of the Sakhalin Region. Bogdanchikov wanted to stay away from politics, but he failed.
Peak of career: Rosneft Oil Company
In 1997, Bogdanchikov received an order from Moscow with a new appointment. So he became vice-president of the joint-stock company NK Rosneft. A year later, he became president of the company. First of all, he was assigned the duties of a regional manager for the Far East. But gradually he began to deal with problems of a national scale. In 2003, his name began to appear frequently in the media in connection with the "YUKOS case". Bogdanchikov played an important role in the takeover of this company by Rosneft. Later, he managed to avoid the merger of the concern subordinate to him with such a giant as Gazprom. These transactions had not only an economic aspect, but also a political one. Having defended the independence of Rosneft, Sergei Mikhailovich strengthened the position of the clan of Igor Sechin. Exactlythe Bogdanchikov-Sechin tandem was considered by many political scientists to be responsible for the emergence of the “YUKOS case”. In 2005, Bogdanchikov was included in the list of defendants in the Yukos lawsuit against Russian oil companies. However, the case in the American court did not receive further development. In 2006, Rosneft placed shares on the London Stock Exchange. Among the shareholders was Bogdanchikov, who acquired a $1 million package. For 12 years of work at Rosneft, Sergey Mikhailovich brought the company to a new level. In the first two years, he made it profitable, and then only increased the amount of income by increasing oil production.
Parting with Rosneft
Since 2004, Sergey Mikhailovich Bogdanchikov, Rosneft as a whole has become an object of pressure from Gazprom. The concern wanted to take over the oil company, but the Bogdanchikov team was able to defend its independence, including through the purchase of Yuganskneftegaz. Friction between the companies did not stop, to this was added dissatisfaction with the actions of Bogdanchikov on the part of the shareholders of Rosneft. Rumors of his resignation have periodically surfaced since 2004. Russian Deputy Prime Minister Igor Shuvalov, and then Igor Sechin, were personally interested in changing the company's management. And in the fall of 2010, Bogdanchikov was dismissed. For some time, journalists were waiting tensely for what new appointment he would receive. But gradually this topic lost its relevance, this once quite significant figure, Sergei Mikhailovich Bogdanchikov, began to disappear from the media. Wherenow the former head of Rosneft is working, it is unknown. There are suggestions that he invests his capital in various business areas. In particular, in 2013, he invested in Datapro LLC, which is engaged in data processing, among the founders of which was the son of Bogdanchikov Evgeny. Despite the fact that the current occupation of Sergei Mikhailovich is unknown, it is clear that he does not live in poverty, since over the years of work at Rosneft he could make good capital, which amounts to at least several million dollars.
