Creation

The Urals has been the most important mining and industrial center of Russia since the time of Peter the Great. After the construction of the Trans-Siberian Railway in the 19th century, the region gained a second wind. It became possible to develop industry in new territories, the development of which was previously hampered by transport inaccessibility.

After the construction of the railway in a remote corner of the Urals, the construction of a large ferrous metallurgy plant began. The laying of the enterprise took place on May 29, 1894. After 19 months, the first steel was smelted, a little later they began to manufacture railroad rails.

The plant received the poetic name Nadezhdinsky in honor of the wife of the owner of the enterprise A. A. Polovtsova - Nadezhda Mikhailovna. It was the largest metallurgical production in the Urals. The equipment came from the best manufacturers in Belgium, France and Germany. By 1913, one fifth of all Ural metal was smelted within its walls.

Development

The revolution and the ensuing bloody civil war did not disrupt the work of the Nadezhda Metallurgical Plant. Until 1931, the basis of production was all the same rails, sectional and roofing iron, refractory materials, blanks for ammunition.

Since 1931, the profile of the NMZ has changed dramatically. The government instructed to arrange the production of high-quality sectional steels and rolled products of various sections, so necessary for the nascent Soviet industry. In 1933, a sizing shop was opened, in which rolled products were made by cold drawing, followed by turning and grinding.

During the war, special hopes were pinned on the Nadezhda Metallurgical Plant (Serov). He was one of the few suppliers of high-quality steels and rolled products of more than a hundred grades. Here they mastered the methods of alloying with titanium, nickel, vanadium, chromium, molybdenum. In 1946, the factory workers were awarded a well-deserved award - the Order of the Red Banner of Labor.

Following decades, production has steadily developed. Productivity, labor culture increased, housing and infrastructure were built, social and cultural programs were carried out. In 1975, the production of rods for pumps (submersible and oil) was launched.

Newstage

The Nadezhda Metallurgical Plant experienced its second birth as part of the Ural Mining and Metallurgical Company. For 16 years, the enterprise has undergone a large-scale reconstruction, which is based on the transition from open-hearth to electric steelmaking.

Electric steel-smelting complex consisting of EAF-80, out-of-furnace steel processing units (ladle furnace and vacuum degasser) and other auxiliary equipment provides a production volume of over 500,000 tons of steel annually. During this time, the production of 328 grades of metal has been mastered.

Thanks to vacuum processing, the quality indicators of steels supplied to engineering and automotive industries have increased. In addition, Nadezhda Metallurgical Plant again produces ball-bearing steel with guaranteed quality. Having a wide range of products (over 400 types), the Nadezhda Metallurgical Plant annually replenishes it with new profile sizes of rolled products at section mills 850, 450 and 320. At the stages of sizing production, calibrated rolled products with improved machining properties for the automotive industry are produced.

Over the past 7 years NMZ has mastered 19 new rolled profiles. By 2014, the volume of production of newly mastered types of products reached 80,000 tons, which is 16% of the total volume of rolled metal sold for the year.

Description

In 2016, the company celebrated its 120th anniversary. After a century, several generations of specialists have changed, production technology has been updated, and the range of products has significantly expanded. Today PAONMZ is an important part of the UMMC holding.

The plant carries out work on the technology of complete metallurgical processing. Rolled steel is produced here:

  • carbon according to GOST 1050-88;
  • alloyed according to GOST 4543-71;
  • ball bearing according to GOST 801-78;
  • automatic according to GOST 1414-75.

Total 328 stamps. The productivity of the Nadezhda Steel Works is 550,000 tons of calibrated steel and rolled metal.

Product output is focused mainly on the domestic market. Among the advantages of the work is the possibility of ordering small-tonnage batches of rolled metal products, the production and delivery of which are carried out in a short time.

Production

The strongest position of Nadezhda Metallurgical Plant is in the calibration steel sector, where the company consistently holds 2-3 positions among Russian manufacturers. In the long products sector, NMZ has been in the TOP-10 of domestic producers for many years. And this is despite the pressure of such giants as Mechel, MMK, Severstal and other large plants.

The plant has mastered the smelting of a rare type of steel - hollow drilling. Some of it is exported. In this direction, the company occupies a leading position. In the sector of pipe blanks, the presence of a metallurgical plant named after. A. K. Serov is insignificant - about 1% of the market. However, NMZ has a stable sales market, supplying pipe blanks to a long-standing partner, OJSC PNTZ.

Products

Metallurgical plant them. A. K. Serova carries out production:

  • rolled products with special surface finishes;
  • rolled gauge (hexagonal, round);
  • rolled bars (hexagonal, square, round);
  • pig iron;
  • iron vitriol;
  • various blanks (pipe, axial).

Besides, NMZ offers a wide range of reinforced concrete products:

  • foundation beams, support pads;
  • wall blocks for basements, indoor and outdoor blocks;
  • columns, plates, rings, lintels;
  • flights of stairs, parapet slabs;
  • floor panels;
  • fence slabs and posts, flat slabs;
  • driven piles.

Modernization

To maintain competitiveness, the management of the UMMC holding is carrying out a phased reconstruction of PJSC NMZ. A steel-smelting arc 80-ton electric furnace was put into operation. With increased production intensity, electric steelmaking technology is more profitable.

A water treatment plant, gas cleaning facilities, power supply facilities have also been built, and an Italian vacuum plant has been put into operation. A new department has been opened, where ferroalloys are prepared. Launched argon block. A significant achievement was the launch of the oxygen shop. The equipment of the Italian company SIAD allows to produce 5100 m3 of oxygen per hour3 oxygen.

Newly acquired equipment increases flexibilityproduction, significantly upgrade the range, rebuild technological capacities in accordance with market conditions. Already now, up to 30 melts of metal are carried out at the NMZ per day.
