Bas alt has been used in the construction of bridges and roads since time immemorial. In the later period, the scope of this material expands, it is used in the production of floor tiles and anti-abrasive coatings. Decades later, in fact, it was found that not all bas alt rock is chemically identical to each other, and only that material with the necessary physical properties and a certain chemical composition is suitable for the formation of bas alt fibers of different diameters.

Researchers from Germany, France, Great Britain, USA and Italy made the first attempt to create bas alt fiber after World War II. However, it was only in the fifties and sixties that initial significant results were obtained in Prague and Moscow.

Renewed interest in bas alt was noted in subsequent decades, especially in those countries that had a large supply of bas alt rock. At this time, the potential of technology for creatingbas alt fiber so that it (the technology) can be used for military purposes and in the production of aircraft.

Also at this time, research is being carried out in Kyiv, with almost no budget limit, which ends in success: a technology was developed that was kept secret. It was declassified only in the early nineties, after which developments began on its use in civil engineering.

In our time, the production of bas alt fabric has been established in Russia and Ukraine, in the CIS countries, as well as in China. Most of the resulting bas alt fiber is purchased by companies from Japan and used in the automotive sector for the production of exhaust systems and other parts, as well as for the manufacture of tripods for cameras and snowboards.

Four main stages implies the production technology of bas alt fabric:

  • bas alt crushed stone is pre-processed (crushed, washed, dried);
  • bas alt chips are melted in a melting furnace in order to obtain a continuous fiber in the form of a complex thread;
  • a continuous fiber is formed;
  • cloth is woven or other products are made, it depends on the area in which the fiber will be used in the future.

The characteristic dark color gives the stone a considerable content of iron oxide in the bas alt rock, which also increases the homogenization time, crystallization temperature, curveviscosity is steeper compared to fiberglass. For these moments, special furnaces of a special design are used, this is done to ensure that all conditions are provided that maintain the molten mass in a homogeneous state at different stages of the technological process. The vertical upgrade method is used in a typical plant producing continuous mineral fiber.

At the final stage of processing the material after the bas alt fiber is obtained in the form of a complex of threads, other technologies are used, similar to those used in factories producing textile threads for fabric.

Characteristic

The characteristics of TBK-100 bas alt fabric significantly distinguish it from similar materials such as silicate fiber and glass fiber. It also differs from them in high strength and the ability to use it in the widest range of positive and negative temperatures.

Due to its environmental friendliness, strength and durability, heat resistance, products made from bas alt fabric are widely used in production and in the construction industry, where bas alt fiber slabs and mats are used, chopped bas alt fiber. And for road construction, a reinforcing geogrid is used.

Bas alt fabric properties

Fabrics woven from bas alt continuous thread are fabrics that have different thickness, weight, pattern and type of weaving. It is manufactured in accordance with the requirements foroperation.

Bas alt fabric has the following properties:

  • coating adhesion is good;
  • flame retardant, non-flammable;
  • has excellent tensile strength;
  • preserves integrity at temperatures up to 982 degrees;
  • shows resistance to electromagnetic radiation.
