Who is a conductor? Why are these people embarrassed to talk about where they work? What kind of work is this: a trolley bus conductor? Who and how can take this position? And what does a person selling tickets have in common with a welding machine for oversized parts?
The conductor is not only a man
Who is a conductor? We are used to the fact that this is a person selling tickets in public transport. And few people who are not related to technology know that there is still a conductor for welding. What do they have in common - an object and a person? Probably an appointment. The jig for welding helps to fix in the right position the parts that need to be welded together. A person whose profession is called by the same word makes it possible to record people who have paid and not paid tolls. The one that is needed for welding ensures the quality of future mechanisms. Anyone who works in urban transport ensures the implementation of the plan by the driver and, as a result, the entire industry. That is why very serious requirements are fixed in the official duties of these specialists. Like any working person, a trolleybus or bus conductor should know:
- your rights and obligations;
- documents related to his work;
- rules for the carriage of people and luggage;
- existing tariffs;
- absolutely all stops on the route.
Besides these obvious duties, the conductor of a trolleybus or any other transport must have certain skills. Without them, the official, paid "white" salary, he may not be hired.
The conductor is a friend of the passenger
Who is a conductor? The passenger's best friend. Anything can happen in public transport. There are cases when people had a heart attack or childbirth, people broke their arms or legs, began to sort things out with their fists. The driver cannot be distracted by the noise in the cabin, so the mission of maintaining a normal atmosphere is completely entrusted to the one who sells tickets. Job responsibilities clearly indicate that the conductor of a trolleybus or tram, bus must know:
- the rules for providing first aid and be able to use this knowledge in practice;
- rules for the safe transportation of passengers, operation of a trolleybus;
- properly act in an emergency.
Experienced experts say that the conductor of a trolleybus, as well as any other transport, must be an excellent psychologist. Who uses city trolleybuses more often than others? Sleepy workers, early in the morning trying to get to the factories. Tired and irritated employees who do not havetheir cars. Old women, children… Most of the passengers are annoyed by the crush and preoccupied with their own problems. People in this state are the most aggressive. The conductor must prevent the manifestation of accumulated aggression. And he has to collect money for the trip. This is not easy, given that the composition of passengers changes at almost every stop, and you have to remember in the face of everyone who has already paid. Who can do such a job? Does the conductor have to be in good he alth?
Requirements for the physical condition of the conductor
In order to spend 8-12 hours (this is how long a shift lasts) in the cabin of a trolleybus, constantly moving from one end to the other, the conductor must be a physically hardy person. He should not be afraid of the heat in summer, or frost in winter, or drafts all year round. And also a good specialist:
- speaks the language of the passengers (which means he doesn't faint from the abundance of obscene language);
- he communicates politely and civilly with children and intelligent passengers;
- not afraid to demand payment from tipsy brawlers and hooligan teenagers;
- may lighten the mood with a good joke on occasion.
These requirements are not spelled out in the instructions, the necessary skills are acquired only in the process.
Who can work as a conductor?
Who is a conductor? A worker with a tiny salary. Any person who agrees to receive 6-7 thousand per month for his hard work can hold a position. It is the very low salary that makes the professionextremely unpopular, and the turnover at transport enterprises is continuous. However, drivers find a way out. In many cities, conductors work unofficially, for cash. However, such employment violates the law. Most often, tickets in transport are sold by people who do not have education, who are unable to find a permanent, well-paid job. This does not mean that work as a conductor is not respected in society. All professions are honorable. But it is unlikely that a person who graduated from an institute who knows how to build houses, teach or treat people will be happy to occupy such a position.
