His activities caused polar assessments, the main claims to his activities fromof the public were in the irrational use of the regional budget, in the ill-conceived decisions, in lobbying the interests of individuals and initiating cumbersome and expensive projects. Remaining true to his professional roots, the governor proposed a project to create a high-speed railway connecting Yekaterinburg with remote regions of the region and with Nizhny Tagil. He also supported the intensification of the construction of the metro in Yekaterinburg, under him the Botanicheskaya and Chkalovskaya stations were launched ahead of schedule.

Another religious project of the governor is the restoration of the Church of St. Catherine in Yekaterinburg.
Alexander Sergeevich faced great difficulties in carrying out administrative and personnel policies. High-speed railways remained his main area of professional interest.
