Grapes "Ruby Jubilee" - a hybrid variety that ripens in late August or mid-September. It is very popular in the CIS countries, as it is unpretentious, does not require special care, has good resistance to cold and various diseases, and brings a bountiful harvest. The name fully justifies the appearance of the grapes: they are ruby and quite heavy.
Selection
Grapes "Ruby Jubilee" was bred by breeder Viktor Nikolaevich Krainov, who decided to give his wife an unusual gift for the fortieth wedding anniversary. The variety immediately received positive feedback from farmers. Currently, it is grown in Zaporozhye and the Crimea, Kherson and Rostov regions, as well as the Krasnodar Territory. In central Russia and Siberia, grapes of this variety are not found, as they do not tolerate extreme cold.
Variety description
Begin the description of the "Ruby Jubilee" grapes from the bushes. The variety is medium-sized, large clusters are located on strong stems, whose weight reaches 1 kg. Berries weigh an average of 17 g, they are oval in shape. The fruits are painted in a rich red color, they have a light ruby tint. The stem is strong. According to the reviews of gardeners, the Ruby Jubilee grapes outwardly resemble the Anyuta early variety. The difference is that the last berries have a golden sheen.
The skin of the fruit is not too thick, it is practically not felt when eating, which farmers note in their reviews. Juicy, slightly crunchy pulp is characterized by a slight nutmeg flavor. The leaves of the plant are dark green, have a rounded shape. The mature shoot acquires a brown tint, there are red nodes on it.
Landing
Ruby Jubilee grapes, reviews of which are presented in our article, are usually planted on the south side of the site, since the plant must be protected from the north wind. This variety does not like to coexist with crops such as poplar and walnut.
The soil is prepared in autumn. To do this, the soil is dug up, creating deep pits, and superphosphate is added to it, as well as earth with humus. In the spring, seedlings are dipped in solutions that stimulate growth for 20 hours. Earth is poured into the pits, forming small "mounds", on top of which seedlings are installed. After planting, the pits are covered with earth, leaving about10 cm of free space at the top, and water the soil. During the first two weeks, plantings must be protected from direct sunlight.
Features of care
Need to be trimmed regularly. Gardeners advise cutting 6-8 eyes, leaving 35 pieces on each bush. The plant is resistant to temperatures down to 22 degrees below zero. In more severe conditions, grapes will not be able to grow, so they must be covered for the winter.
Irrigation
According to the reviews that gardeners leave about this grape variety, it is necessary to water regularly. If you have not mulched the bushes, then this procedure is carried out 2 times a month, wetting the soil by 40 cm. A small amount of time should pass between waterings, since a long break will adversely affect the berries: the skin will become rougher and then crack.
However, experienced gardeners do not advise watering the grapes during flowering, as excess moisture will lead to poor pollination, and the flowers will begin to crumble. Watering is stopped a few weeks before harvest.
Feeding
Gardeners note that for the first time you need to fertilize in early spring. For this, bird droppings with "Nitrofoska", ash and urea are widely used. 3 weeks before flowering, the grapes are fed with zinc and boron at the rate of 5 g per 10 liters of water. At the end of flowering, the same fertilizer is applied. Leaves should be sprayed with a solution of manganese sulfate. For 10 liters of water should be from 20 to 30 gconcentrated substance. In addition, once every 2 weeks it is necessary to spray the plant with iron sulfate.
In the summer, top dressing is applied under the bushes, for the preparation of which 30 g of phosphorus and 50 g of potassium and nitrogen are used. The same amount of potassium, as well as 25 g of phosphorus, is poured into the soil at the beginning of the ripening of the berries, after which the top dressing is stopped for a while. Only at the end of the harvest, you need to apply 50 g of potash fertilizer under the bush.
Cutting
Grapes "Ruby Jubilee", a photo of which you can find in our article, needs regular pruning, as gardeners write about in their reviews. The procedure is carried out in the autumn season, before covering the culture for the winter. This must be done before the onset of cold weather. Cuts should be oblique, this will speed up the process of their recovery. In the summer, unnecessary shoots are cut, and in the spring, when the temperature exceeds 5 ° C, frost-damaged branches are disposed of.
Diseases and pests
The Ruby Jubilee grape variety was bred as a symbol of true love. Therefore, he is very strong. According to reviews, the culture has good immunity. It is resistant to rot and powdery mildew, but can be attacked by insects such as wasps.
For pest control, special mesh bags are used in which clusters are placed. This provides air access to the berries and protects the fruits from striped insects. In addition, odorless sticky baits can be used. If youfind a hornet's nest, dispose of it immediately. Keep in mind that wasps often settle in hollow pipes, on which bushes of grapes "Ruby Jubilee" are located. This means that all holes must be bricked up.
According to the reviews of gardeners, there are other pests - bunch leafworms, which literally eat everything in their path. They are fought with the help of chemicals that are sprayed on the bushes. For these purposes, "Tocution", "Cidal" and "Ekamet" are suitable.
Use
Grapes, bred by a breeder as a sign of strong love for his wife, have excellent taste. If you believe the reviews, its leaves are widely used in cooking: sauces and Georgian dolma are prepared with them. Juicy fruits will be of great benefit to people who suffer from blood diseases and tuberculosis or who want to cope with a cold. In addition, cosmetologists and nutritionists recommend eating grapes.
