In our world, which is constantly and rapidly changing, there are not many speci alties left that are likely to continue to exist in the future. The profession of an electrician, which, moreover, is increasingly in contact with the profession of an electronics engineer, is one of the few in whose good prospects one can and must unconditionally believe. However, not only the prospects of this profession are interesting, but also how things are with the wages of electricians today, that is, how much an electrician gets here and now.
What determines the salary
In a general sense, an electrician is an overly generalized concept that includes many specializations, levels and categories. Very conditionally, they can be divided into two large groups, depending on the level of education. These are electrical engineers with higher technical education and electricians of various specializations with secondary technical education.
The former are engaged in the design of new and supervision of the operation of existing systems, the latter directlycarry out the necessary work on the installation, repair and maintenance of all systems of the electrical chain: from the production of electricity to its delivery to the final consumer, including the creation and maintenance of instruments and equipment.
According to the unified tariff-qualification directory of working professions, electricians are assigned categories from 2 to 6 inclusive. The higher the discharge, the more the electrician receives, respectively. How much such a specialist receives a salary also depends on the level of admission. There are 5 electrical safety tolerance groups that determine the qualifications of an employee and the list of work that he has the right to perform.
The salary of an electrical engineer is mainly determined by the position he holds in a particular enterprise. Well, the enterprise itself, where the specialist works, is of considerable importance.
Demand and supply
Relatively recently, the Ministry of Labor published a list of the most popular professions in Russia, which also includes the profession of an electrician. According to another document of the same Ministry, last year, for example, the vacancy of an electrical engineer with a salary of 195,000 rubles was on the list of the highest paid, along with the commander of an aircraft and the captain of an ocean ship. It turns out that the profession is scarce and highly paid? So how much do electricians in Russia really get paid?
Electrical Engineer Salary Level
They are white collar workers in this profession. Here the salary depends onexclusively from the position held and from a specific employer organization. The dependence is very simple, the higher the position, the higher the salary of an electrical engineer, the richer the company, the richer the electrical engineer.
If a graduate of a higher educational institution in Moscow can claim a maximum of 30,000 - 35,000 rubles, then experienced managers reach heights of 150,000 -200,000 or more rubles a month. Earnings of unique specialists, those on whom "everything rests", can be even higher. But this is the capital, and here we are talking about a few people who have moved up the career ladder.
Now let's see how much electricians with higher education earn in different cities of our country, based on vacancies. At the same time, along with the average salary figure in a particular city, the modal range of salaries received by electricians is also given. The modal salary range is the range of values most commonly found in job advertisements. In the table below, you can estimate how much electrical engineers receive for their work.
City |
Average salary (Rub. per month) |
Modal salary range (Rub. per month) |
Moscow | 58,000 | 53,000 – 75,000 |
St. Petersburg | 48,000 | 29,000 – 50,000 |
Krasnoyarsk | 43,000 | 31,000 – 52,000 |
Novosibirsk | 37,000 | 29,000 – 49,000 |
Vladivostok | 55,000 | 34,000 – 53,000 |

Salary of electricians with secondary technical education in Russia
Traditionally, let's start by answering the question: how much do electricians get in Moscow, Russia's largest city?
If we process the data on vacancies available in the public domain, it is expected that the capital offers the highest paid places for specialists in this profession. The average salary is 51,000 rubles per month, while the modal range of salary values is in the range of 32,000 - 53,000 rubles per month. In Moscow, out of 1376 vacancies, 666 vacancies are offered salaries in the specified range, that is, almost half. To understand how much electricians in other regions of Russia earn, just look at the following table:
City |
Average salary (Rub. per month) |
Modal salary range (Rub. per month) |
Moscow | 51,000 | 32,000 – 53,000 |
St. Petersburg | 45,000 | 26,000 – 48,000 |
Krasnoyarsk | 37,000 | 13,000 – 31,000 |
Novosibirsk | 29,000 | 12,000 – 18,000 |
Vladivostok | 51,000 | 35,000 – 46,000 |
Samara | 29,000 | 18,000 – 30,000 |
Voronezh | 29,000 | 24,000 – 37,000 |
Krasnodar | 33,000 | 23,000 – 33,000 |
Total in Russia | 35,000 | 28,000 – 50,000 |
The discrepancy between the average salary and the modal interval means that there are a small number of vacancies with an offered salary of an electrician well above the average level. This is typical for the Asian part of the country, since a number of vacancies offer shift work and the salary level that electricians receive due to difficult working conditions is much higher and can reach up to 80,000 rubles a month.
What other incomemay have an electrician
A very common occurrence among electricians is self-employment. At the same time, some often combine work for hire and part-time work in private. In Russia, the market for such services is extremely large. A significant part of the population across the country has dachas that need almost constant maintenance and periodic repairs, and the main housing in the private sector is not far behind in generating orders for electricians.
Prices for services allow them to earn sometimes significant amounts, up to 80-100 thousand rubles a month. Often in addition to the main income. Of course, such earnings cannot be called reliable and regular, it all depends on the constant availability of customers, available free time and willingness to work seven days a week and holidays, and often without vacation.
In closing
From the given data it is clear that the level of earnings of an electrician, although somewhat higher than the average salary in the country, does not yet reach adequate values for this profession. How much an electrician earns is, of course, an important question, but the value of the profession is determined not only by this. The main thing is that this work is interesting, requires special knowledge and experience, and is in demand both today and in the future.
This profession provides great opportunities for professional growth and the associated increase in income. And one more aspect. The figures given on the level of salaries reflect only the available vacancies, that is, they are intended for "people from the street" and represent only a starting position. ATUltimately, the answer to the question of how much an electrician earns in Russia primarily depends on the electrician himself.
